Book Description
Love can make a person crazy…the best kind of crazy. Misfit and social pariah Charity Montgomery has heard it all before and she doesn’t give two hoots what anyone thinks about her rough and rowdy ways—well, no one except a certain lawman who ignores her at every turn. If there was just some way to get his attention, she knew she could convince him she was the only woman for him. Miles Grayson has seen every kind of crazy during his years as a lawman, but he has never seen anything like the red-headed firebrand who has her sights on him—and he’s never wanted anyone more, but she’s the kind of woman who’ll get him killed. She’s a woman without boundaries and he’s a lawman who demands respect. What can go wrong when these two opposites attract? Just about everything.

Book Description
In the late 1990s, there was a distinct rise in interest in the non-profit sector, and in retailing and consumption. Drawing together these two concerns this book provides a comprehensive and international account of the retail charity sector. Charity shops are now significant occupiers of the UK high street, and are becoming familiar sites of consumption in the USA, Australia, Canada and Ireland. This volume provides the first overview of the history and development of the charity shop, incorporating material from a variety of disciplines, including marketing, retailing, cultural studies and social geography. Presenting recent research from the UK, Europe, Australia and North America, this book fills gap in the literature of the field, and will be of great interest to all practitioners, researchers and students wishing to study the charity shop phenomenon.

Book Description
Charity Stuart and her younger sister Joyce have lost their beloved father under mysterious and ruinous circumstances. On their way to London to live with their great-aunt who wants to sponsor Joyce for the Season, they meet Oliver Blackburn in a small inn. They don’t guess that this enthralling man is a courier for the government, traveling back and forth across the Channel. That night, their trunk is stolen. All they have left is Charity’s small case, but they continue on to London. The next time Charity encounters Mr. Blackburn, she learns he is Lord Blackburn. He seems oddly interested in her life before her father’s death. His reputation is far from pristine, but she is drawn to him, fascinated by his bold kisses. The truth about her father’s death shadows their growing attraction, and they must solve the puzzle of it before death strikes again.

Book Description
Politicians, social administrators, economists, biographers and historians have shared the belief that the Charity Organisation Society effectively rationalised relief to the Victorian poor and illustrated the advantages of caring voluntarism over impersonal state handouts. It is now clear that in provincial England these impressions were illusory. The alleged sinful profligacy of other charitable bodies was persistently condemned by the Charity Organisation Society for fostering latant sin amongst the poor. By exposing how they failed in practice to satisfy their own prescriptions for appropriate poor relief this volume asks whether the Charity Organisation Society were themselves morally equipped to castigate others about sin.
