Forecasting uncertain demands and planning for such demands present some unique challenges, the biggest of these type of problems is huge tender orders from various customers around the world. Until recently, there was no finite definition for huge tender orders and to handle these huge tender orders there was no separate planning. In this project, there was a clear study to define tender orders according to the organisation which caused problems to demand planners and logistic co-ordinators there by reducing forecast accuracy. Later, various forecasting methodologies were tested for one set of data for past five years. Firstly a customer based analysis was done to find out highly volatile demand customers, later product based analysis was done. During the study, tender orders were defined and identified. The tender orders were mostly from governmental organisations and these demands were much bigger than the normal business orders. These huge orders were not separated from the normal business, therefore it caused much problems in the supply chain and it was difficult for the production process to handle such orders. In order to rectify this problem, the current forecasting method from the company was studied and its performance measures were analysed. After finding out the results of the analysis, it was concluded that the forecasting accuracy for the current methodology in the organisation was not good enough. Therefore four other forecasting models were analysed. They were moving average forecasting, simple exponential smoothing, Holt's double exponential smoothing and winter's triple exponential smoothing. These forecasting methods were done for standard and solver based smoothing constants. The results inferred that the forecasting accuracy was different for all four models for four different products. But on an average for the products which were considered, moving average forecasting method without any additional plans had the best forecast accuracy. Later, an analysis for outliers were done based on standard deviation of forecast error and mean absolute percentage error which was based on a literature study. Among the four products which were considered for analysis, one product showed a significant outlier in the demand pattern. When the outlier data point was further analysed, it was a peak which caused due to tender orders from Latin American countries. It was thus concluded by suggesting three recommendations to eliminate the outliers.
