Celestial Background Radiation
Author: Russell G. Walker
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Bolometer
Languages : en
Pages : 106
Book Description
A short review is given of the literature pertinent to the bolometric correction. A recommended scale of bolometric corrections is presented based upon recent model atmospheres for stars of early spectral type, and upon stellar energy distributions synthesized from photoelectric observations of stars later than FO V. The reduction of various photoelectrically determined magnitude and color systems to a common system and the further reduction of these measurements to absolute energy units is discussed in some detail. Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642283705
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 337
Book Description
The book describes from a historical point of view how cosmic rays were discovered. The book describes the research in cosmic rays. The main focus is on how the knowledge was gained, describing the main experiments and the conclusions drawn. Biographical sketches of main researchers are provided. Cosmic rays have an official date of discovery which is linked to the famous balloon flights of the Austrian physicist Hess in 1912. The year 2012 can therefore be considered the centenary of the discovery.
