Cayden and Mrs. Jules is book #7 in the Anna's Friends series of 8 books for the 3rd grade level, or age 8-10. (See The Assignment, Book Anna's Friends Save the Animal Shelter, Book The Hayride, Book Hiro Plays Tiny Tim, Book Sarah Learns a Lesson, Book #5, and Jesse Can't Say No, book #6). Book #7, Cayden and Mrs. Jules is a heart-warming story about Cayden who has the gift of mercy. She is the only one who can unlock a half-century secret that Mrs. Jules has been hiding and has been ripping her heart apart. Cayden had skated by Mrs. Jules house for almost a year but had no idea who the little Indian lady was until one day she fell and skinned her knees. Cob-webs and a spider named Spike, a spooky room with a light on, a grumpy lady who never wore shoes, and a creaky rocking chair, made her want to know more. This 150-page chapter book has some great illustrations and is filled is fun and laughter, conflict and emotion, and a story that will touch the heart of moms and dads too. This excerpt shows us how Cayden helps her BGG Abi understand Mrs. Jules: "Cayden and Abi hopped up off the floor and ran out the front to gather some grass from the yard. They got lots of handfuls then glued it all over the flip-flops, Cayden did the right one, and Abi, the left. "She'll love these!" Cayden wrote a note on a card and stuffed it in an envelope then shouted out. "Daddy, we're going to take these to Mrs. Jules. Be back!" The girls ran out the front door, down the steps, up the side-walk, and right up to Mrs. Jules front porch. "What in the sam hill are you doin in my yard?" the grumpy lady touted. Abi got truly scared and stopped in her tracks, but Cayden continued up the steps. "Mrs. Jules, we made you a present." "I don't need a present!" she scowled. "Everybody needs presents. You will like this one!" Cayden handed her the flip-flops and the note card. Mrs. Jules held the grass covered flip-flops up to the light so she could see them real good. "We have flip-flops too and thought you might like a pair for when you do your yard work? They are all grassy-and," Mrs. Jules tossed the grass flip-flops into a chair next to her. "I don't wear shoes. Now go on. Go on home." She slid back in her rocker and began to slowly rock, pushing her bare feet up, back and forth and back and forth, creak, back and forth, creak, the card in hand. "Go on. Get off my porch!" Cayden and Abi ran down Mrs. Jules driveway and all the way back to Cayden's house. "She's so mean. Why do you want to spend time with her?" Abi questioned her BFF. "She has a broken heart," Cayden cried. "We have to be nice to her."

Book Description
"Anna's Friends Go to Preschool" is a part of the Anna's Friends Motivational Gifts series that helps parents and children learn in a fun and engaging way - through fun story books - what their God given motivational gifts are based on Roman's 12:6-8.Meet this group of fun-loving children as they embark on a new journey. Anna, Jesse, Maria, and Daniel meet three new friends: Sarah, Hiro, and Cayden on their first day of preschool. This 90+ page book has 4 full-color illustrated stories for your preschool children to read while Miss Jenny helps them learn what their God-given gifts are: 1) Anna Can be Bossy 2) A Butterfly Goes to Preschool3) New Friends and Lizards 4) A Good Fun Bible Lesson At the end of the book are pages written from the perspective of each of Anna's Friends telling your child why they do the things they do. For example, here is what Anna has to say about her gift: Hi! I'm Anna. If you think you are like me, here are some things I do that help me give God's love away.My motivational gift is a really long word. Facilitator! Say it like this: Fa (like pa) cil (like window sill) i ( like ick) tator (like ali - gator). I plan projects!1. I am always thinking ahead because I am a planner and make lots of notes. Remember, I told my momma to make a list of what I need for pre-school.2. I love to quickly get to know new kids at school or church. That's why I rushed to meet Sarah and Cayden on the first day of preschool.3. Sometimes I boss my friends around, but not ugly like. Did you read how I told everyone to go help Jesse when he dropped his crayons? And, I told Maria to get him a tissue? And I even told everyone where to sit. Watch for this trait in the other stories.4. Sometimes I don't ask my mom or dad permission before doing things I like to do. This isn't a good idea. I like to have my own way. This isn't cool either! Your mom will show you why. 5. It doesn't take me long to clean up my messy room and I don't get upset if I spill something on my clothes. It will wash out. 6. And, I like active games like jump rope, T-ball, and even hop scotch. While you are reading, "Anna's Friends Go to Preschool", you may want to read the companion book for parent's, "A Parent's Guide to Understanding What Motivates Your Child". It's a 160-page workbook written for mom and dad (and all caregivers of kids) so you can identify your children's gifts while they are young. And, it will give you some excellent tips on projects you can do to help develop their gifts, how to help them overcome challenges associated with their gifts, and much more.Check out the entire "Anna's Friends" series at www.annasfriends.comRead Elizabeth's review: "This is a tool (the Anna's Friends series) that I as a parent, as well as my children, have thoroughly enjoyed. It became the book that my three girls requested to read every night. Early in the study, they would each be so excited to see if the next character was the one they could closely relate to. Then, when they had the exciting moment of figuring out their gift, I found myself being equally as excited. They enjoyed the questions at the end of the chapters in Book #1 that helped them figure out if they were like Maria, Anna, Jesse, Hiro, and so forth. My youngest two daughters, ages 4 and 6, would squeal with excitement, "That's me! I do that!" Interesting enough, not only did this book series help build confidence in each child regarding their gifts and how best to use them, but it helped build confidence in their "weaker" areas. For example, my middle daughter, age 6, who has the gift of Mercy, realized that daydreaming is common for others who possess the gift of mercy, as well as the hesitation to jump in and make new friends. She is less self-conscience about these things now because she sees it as part of God's design in her and others. It has encouraged her not to shy away from those areas, but to embrace them and grow.

Book Description
Since a deadly virus and the violence that followed wiped out his parents and most of his community, Finn has lived alone on the rugged coast with only his loyal dog Rowdy for company. He has stayed alive for two winters—hunting and fishing and trading food, and keeping out of sight of the Wilders, an armed and dangerous gang that controls the north, led by a ruthless man named Ramage. But Finn’s isolation is shattered when a girl runs onto the beach. Rose is a Siley—an asylum seeker—and she has escaped from Ramage, who had enslaved her and her younger sister, Kas. Rose is desperate, sick, and needs Finn’s help. Kas is still missing somewhere out in the bush. And Ramage wants the girls back—at any cost. ‘Tense and atmospheric...Mark Smith’s debut is assured, gripping and leaves you wanting more.’ Best Books for Younger Readers 2016, Sydney Morning Herald ‘It’s easy to see why Mark Smith’s dystopian thriller has been compared with John Marsden’s Tomorrow When the War Began. I barely came up for breath as the pages flew. So strap yourself in for a high action ride.’ Kids Book Review ‘A riveting story of survival that questions the prices of freedom and safety as well as the value of an individual life...A breakout new series full of romance, danger, and a surprisingly engaging world.’ STARRED Review, Kirkus Reviews ‘A solid debut.’ Publishers Weekly ‘It’s been suggested more than once that dystopian fiction has had its day...but The Road to Winter is a welcome sign that there’s still life in the genre.’ Armadillo
