Book Description
“Bravo Pete, on a remarkable effort to pen a path of enlightenment to those who seek to advance creativity for self, teams and tribes. Your book is a symphony of data points and rather than being disjointed, it actuality seems to mirror the very nature of the zigzag connect-the-dot process inherent with the idea-generation stage of creativity. You once asked me if the idea-generation stage isn’t the hardest part for most people. If the answer is yes, then your Catalytic Thinking methodology is exactly that timely solution the world needs now – one that is simple, elegant, effective, fun and within the reach of everyone. To all prospective readers I say, “Yippee to Pete and people like him who make the going easier for the rest of us.” Chuck Scott, Founder of Avanti Group Inc, writer, photographer, websmith, and business innovation expert “With a little work on organization this book will hold the reader’s attention and make them enjoy the idea generation process you introduce to them. At its best, this book could greatly improve the lives of its readers.” An anonymous editor at Litopia Publishing, a London-based company. These comments were from an assessment of a very early version of my manuscript. I loved this positive encouragement as it was interspersed in a very candid and constructive critique. I hope you feel I did the “little work” needed to make this book its very best. For more information, please click here

Book Description
This monograph consists of manuscripts submitted by invited speakers who participated in the symposium "Industrial Environmental Chemistry: Waste Minimization in Industrial Processes and Remediation of Hazardous Waste," held March 24-26, 1992, at Texas A&M University. This meeting was the tenth annual international symposium sponsored by the Texas A&M Industry-University Cooperative Chemistry Program (IUCCP). The program was developed by an academic-industrial steering committee consisting of the co-chairmen, Professors Donald T. Sawyer and Arthur E. Martell of the Texas A&M University Chemistry Department, and members appointed by the sponsoring companies: Bernie A. Allen, Jr., Dow Chemical USA; Kirk W. Brown, Texas A&M University; Abraham Clearfield, Texas A&M University; Greg Leyes, Monsanto Company; Jay Warner, Hoechst-Celanese Corporation; Paul M. Zakriski, BF Goodrich Company; and Emile A. Schweikert, Texas A&M University (IUCCP Coordinator). The subject of this conference reflects the interest that has developed in academic institutions and industry for technological solutions to environmental contamination by industrial wastes. Progress is most likely with strategies that minimize waste production from industrial processes. Clearly the key to the protection and preservation of the environment will be through R&D that optimizes chemical processes to minimize or eliminate waste streams. Eleven of the papers are directed to waste minimization. An additional ten papers discuss chemical and biological remediation strategies for hazardous wastes that contaminate soils, sludges, and water.

Book Description
This edited volume brings together a group of international researchers and theorists from various intellectual and analytic traditions to explore the role uncertainty plays in creativity, learning, and development. Contributors to this volume draw on existing programs of research as well as introduce new and even speculative directions for research, theory and practice. Learning and life are filled with uncertainty. Although the experience of uncertainty can cause emotional discomfort or cognitive rigidity, uncertainty serves as a catalyst and condition for change. In this way, uncertainty represents a core facet in the interrelationship among creativity, learning, and development. Considerations for both the benefits and potential costs of uncertainty will be addressed in this volume with an aim of understanding how uncertainty can be better understood in light of creativity, learning, and development. Taken together this volume stands to contribute to our collective understanding of the role that uncertainty plays in learning and life and highlights how conceptualizing and studying uncertainty in new ways can promote positive and lasting change.
