Usually the aim of the collector simply to increase the size of his collection; in this instance, as one glance at the catalogue will show, it has been to gather together none but fine and rare coins. Indeed there is scarcely a poor specimen in the collection and were the average condition lower, many particular pieces described as good, might with truth have been called fine; but placed side by side with so many which are decidedly wry fine, if not uncirculated, they are thrown entirely in the shade.
