La calidad en la medida clínica es esencial tanto en la atención a los pacientes como para la investigación y buen desarrollo de la misma. Sin una buena medición, el seguimiento clínico de un paciente, el éxito o el fracaso de su tratamiento no serían detectados. Las características más importantes a la hora de aplicar una prueba determinada son la repetibilidad, validez y capacidad discriminativa. Las pruebas aplicadas deben tener una alta repetibilidad para que puedan ser válidas y tengan buena capacidad discriminativa.
