Captain Kit Brightling is Aligned to the magic of the sea, which makes her an invaluable asset to the Saxon Isles and its monarch, Queen Charlotte. The Isles and its allies will need every advantage they can get: Gerard Rousseau, the former Gallic emperor and scourge of the Continent, has escaped his island prison to renew his quest for control of the Continent. Gerard has no qualms about using dangerous magic to support his ambitions, so Kit and the crew of her ship, the Diana, are the natural choice to find him—and help stop him. But then Kit’s path unexpectedly crosses with that of the dashing and handsome Rian Grant, Viscount Queenscliffe, who’s working undercover on the Continent in his own efforts to stop Gerard. And he’s not the only person Kit is surprised to see. An old enemy has arisen, and the power he’ll wield on Gerard’s behalf is beautiful and terrible. Sparks will fly and sails will flutter as Kit and crew are cast into the seas of adventure to fight for queen and country.

Unfit For Command
Author: John E. O'Neill
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 1596981105
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 225
Book Description
"What sort of combination of hypocrite and paradox is John Kerry?" asks this heated critique of the Democratic presidential candidate’s Vietnam–era military service and antiwar activism. O’Neill, a lawyer and swift boat veteran, and Corsi, an expert on Vietnam antiwar movements, show how Kerry misrepresented his wartime exploits and is therefore incompetent to serve as commander in chief. Buttressed by interviews with Navy veterans who patrolled Vietnam’s waters, some along with Kerry, readers will discover how he exaggerated minor injuries, self-inflicted others, wrote fictitious diary entries and filed "phony" reports of his heroism under fire—all in a calculated quest to secure career-enhancing combat medals.

Told by the Pioneers ...
Author: United States. Work Projects Administration. State of Washington
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Frontier and pioneer life
Languages : en
Pages : 250
Book Description
To preserve stories of pioneers, which had not already found their way into published histories and reminiscences of the State of Washington, a project was begun in the early part of 1936 as part of a Friendly Visiting Program to elderly persons receiving old age assistance from the Washington State Dept. of Public Welfare. Consequently, these elderly persons were interviewed and their early stories, which might otherwise have been lost, have been preserved as part of the pioneer lore of the State of Washington. Selected interviews and excerpts were chosen by the editors based on the most picturesque background and popular appeal for publication as Told by the Pioneers. The book states, "The originals [interviews] are on file at the State Library where they can be consulted for statistics and other data." However, WSL does not and has not had the complete collection of original interviews. The manuscript collection titled, Washington Pioneer Project Records and Interviews 1936-1937, consists of the original interviews that WSL does have that correspond with the book.
