Book Description
"Robert Zubrin is a true engineering genius like the heroic engineers of the past." --Frederick Turner, American Enterprise Using nuts-and-bolts engineering and a unique grasp of human history, Robert Zubrin takes us to the not-very-distant future, when our global society will branch out into the universe. From the current-day prospect of lunar bases and Mars settlements to the outer reaches of other galaxies, Zubrin delivers the most important and forward-looking work on space and the true possibilities of human exploration since Carl Sagan's Cosmos. Sagan himself said of Zubrin's humans-to-Mars plan, "Bob Zubrin really, nearly alone, changed our thinking on this issue." With Entering Space, he takes us further, into the prospect of human expansion to the outer planets of our own solar system--and beyond.

Book Description
Building a Space-Faring Civilization: Advancing the Renaissance of Science, Medicine and Human Performance in Civilian Spaceflight explores an exponentially expanding, unique new trajectory for humankind—spaceflight. The book provides state-of-the-art information on how to select the most qualified humans to undergo space travel, while also considering how human physiology might be modified genetically and/or epigenetically to adapt individuals to live and perform various tasks in extraterrestrial environments. This is a novel source of current biomedical, technical, legal, and social implications/issues/data associated with our exploration of space. The challenges are enormous and are highlighted in the book, including ethical issues that involve intellectual property, geographical subdivision of extraterrestrial bodies, our approach to other and diverse life forms. These are only some of the important topics anyone in the field will find crucial for study and advancing science, medicine, and human performance in civilian spaceflight. Summarizes the work of world class investigators from around the world working on epigenetics Describes the impact of biological sex/gender on gene expression through epigenetic mechanisms Presents the current state of our understanding of how environmental experience is translated to future generations in a sex specific manner

Book Description
Designing & Building Space Colonies-A Blueprint for the Future One of the greatest adventures in the future of humanity will be to construct, work, and live in space based structures. In this book we look at the history of ideas for living in space, proposed space colony designs, and technology. The details of current life support technology on the International Space Station is reviewed, and what technologies will be required for development of large scale space colonies. What other things in terms of financing and materials availability will be needed also. Finally, we conclude with some recommendations to get us ready to build these colonies.

Book Description
This book gives an account, as little biased as possible, on human space missions beyond low Earth orbit in general, and specifically to the planets of the solar system. The importance of advanced propulsion is stressed and the mathematical methods needed to design missions based on them are described. The included computer code allows the user to assess the feasibility of the various missions using different propulsion systems and how advancements in propulsion can allow humankind to become a true spacefaring civilization. As opposite to the majority of books dealing with mission design, where the subject is usually dealt with in a highly mathematical way, here an attempt is made to avoid as much as possible the mathematical complexities and to focus on the practical aspects of the design. However, the equations needed to make numerical analysis and simulations of the missions are described and discussed. An original computer code is included in the book, and an appendix helps the reader to understand how to use it. The code is different from existing ones since its main aim is to be user friendly and to allow the user to make a preliminary design of interplanetary missions aimed to planets and their satellites, comets or asteroids.

Sir Arthur Clarke Award Winner Many environmentalists think going into space detracts from solving problems on Earth. Most space explorers feel environmentalism hampers their exploration of space. Leading astro-biologist Prof. Cockell argues that environmentalism and space exploration have one and the same objective, to ensure humanity has a home.

Book Description
The Space Industry of the Future consists of the first instance of guidance for the space industry on how value creation in space can occur for the greater benefit of humanity using principles of capitalism and sustainability. The timing of this book is ideal given (1) sustainability challenges facing humanity and (2) that the growth of the commercial space economy is now occurring at a rate never seen before. This book presents an opportune guide written for technical, business, and policy practitioners alike that frames how this industry growth should occur from an integrated values and commercial perspective. This perspective is presented in the context of the modern technical capabilities of space systems relative to the world’s greatest problems. The guidance contained in this book for the growing commercial space industry includes considerations beyond profit seeking alone. This guidance is founded on a bespoke value creation criteria to apply in the context of for-profit outer space activities that, if used, will result in the maximum value creation that a company is capable of. The criteria are developed and presented through a rigorous discussion on capitalism, economics, value theory, the circular economy, stakeholder management, and ethics. The value creation criteria are then discussed at length in relation to the space industry. The primary audience for this book is practitioners within the space industry; this includes investors, business managers, policy makers, engineers, and scientists. The secondary audience includes students and researchers, as well as a growing range of parties interested in space policy and entrepreneurship.
