Book Description
This paper presents a case study of a well-informed investor in the South Sea bubble. We argue that Hoare's Bank, a fledgling West End London banker, knew that a bubble was in progress and that it invested knowingly in the bubble; it was profitable to ride the bubble. Using a unique dataset on daily trades, we show that this sophisticated investor was not constrained by institutional factors such as restrictions on short sales or agency problems. Instead, this study demonstrates that predictable investor sentiment can prevent attacks on a bubble; rational investors may only attack when some coordinating event promotes joint action. Keywords: Bubbles, Crashes, Synchronization Risk, Predictability, Investor Sentiment, South Sea Bubble, Market Timing, Limits to Arbitrage, Efficient Market, Hypothesis. JEL Classifications: G14, G12, N23.

A Conceptual Breakthrough in Our Understanding of Fundamental Nature of Matter and Energy!! A lot of questions have bothered science for a long time! What is a photon? Why does light behave both like a particle and a wave? How does light transform into matter? What is gravity? What is Big Bang and what came before it? The list is endless ... Riding on a Ray of Light describes a working model, called the Negentropic Model, which describes the fundamental nature of matter and energy. The negentropic model, formulated as a single theoretical principle based on the current scientific concepts, describes the precise structure of photon along with an explicit mechanism of generation of a light. It also describes the precise nature of matter and its formation in nature along with the intriguing nature of gravity. Alongside, this model explains the underlying meaning of some of the weirdest quantum phenomena such as wave-particle duality. In addition, by proposing the concept of ‘dark protons’, negentropic model allows us to delineate the precise nature of dark matter and dark energy, and this knowledge lets us peep into the depths of black holes to understand their true nature. Basing on these findings, the concept of Big Bang is revised and a brand-new concept of Differential Big Bang proposed! Riding on a Ray of Light presents the most comprehensive model in fundamental physics proposed so for, answering many of the hitherto unanswered questions in particle physics and cosmology, which really helps us to work towards a Theory of Everything !

Book Description
In distilling a vast literature spanning the rational— irrational divide, this paper offers reflections on why asset bubbles continue to threaten economic stability despite financial markets becoming more informationally-efficient, more complete, and more heavily influenced by sophisticated (i.e. presumably rational) institutional investors. Candidate explanations for bubble persistence—such as limits to learning, frictional limits to arbitrage, and behavioral errors—seem unsatisfactory as they are inconsistent with the aforementioned trends impacting global capital markets. In lieu of the short-term nature of the asset owner—manager relationship, and the momentum bias inherent in financial benchmarks, I argue that the business risk of asset managers acts as strong motivation for institutional herding and ‘rational bubble-riding.’ Two key policy implications follow. First, procyclicality could intensify as institutional assets under management continue to grow. Second, remedial policies should extend beyond the standard suite of macroprudential and monetary measures to include time-invariant policies targeted at the cause (not just symptom) of the problem. Prominent among these should be reforms addressing principal-agent contract design and the implementation of financial benchmarks.

Each of the chapters in this book offer a provocative empirical case study of how culture works in practice and how practice makes and remakes culture. It is an essential tool for students and researchers of cultural theory, contemporary social theory and cultural sociology.

Book Description
This book aims to explore stability in an international financial system using disequilibrium theory. It examines historical cases of both instability and stability and reviews price-disequilibrium theory to construct a theoretical model for a stable international financial system. In the modern knowledge economy in a global world, financial socio-technical systems still continue to be central to global commerce. Moreover, technological advances in computer and communications have changed both the knowledge economy and the financial system. While globalization and technology have made international finance more powerful and important to knowledge economies, they have also increased the volatility, instability, and fraudulent use of international finance. The international world has not experienced a long-term, stable financial system after 1913. International financial systems have been periodically unstable, triggering financial crises and resultant economic depressions in different nations. Yet the global economy cannot develop properly without a stable international system, which distributes wealth to economically productive activities. How then can a stable and modern international-financial-system be constructed? In this provocative volume, the authors applies the cross-disciplinary analysis of societal dynamics to important economic writers to derive a new approach to the problem of stabilizing international financial systems.
