Book Description
This comprehensive, superbly illustrated reference is designed to provide practical diagnostic assistance for hematopathologists when dealing with common and uncommon lesions in bone marrow trephine biopsies (BMTBs). At the heart of the book is a systematic analysis of neoplastic hematological and non-hematological disease entities, with concise identification of the key features of myeloproliferative neoplasms, myelodysplastic syndromes, acute and chronic leukemias, eosinophilia-associated myeloid/lymphoid neoplasms, lymphoproliferative disorders, and selected non-hematopoietic malignancies. Relevant examples of BMTBs are presented, with microscopic description, high-quality photomicrographs, and clinical data. The book also explains how to assess hematopoietic and stromal components of normal BMTBs, identifies the heterogeneous patterns that may be observed in healthy individuals, and analyzes reactive conditions, with particular attention to diagnostic problems and pitfalls.

Book Description
No other book covers the pathology of the bone marrow in children as extensively as Pediatric Bone Marrow. It provides a wide background for the understanding of bone marrow disease in children and its difference from that of the adult population. The text illustrates the morphology of the peripheral blood, bone marrow aspirate and bone marrow biopsy. It is useful for the diagnosis of pediatric disorders in the bone marrow, making it an ideal guide for pediatric pathologists, hematologists, oncologists and medical technologists or any physician involved in the diagnosis of pediatric bone marrow disorders.

Book Description
In 1988 we presented our Guide to Bone Marrow Transplan tation. The reception has been enthusiastic and we have re ceived a flood of critical comments, suggestions and requests to provide an update in due time. Although several books on marrow transplantation have recently been published, their scope and goal have generally been different. Hence, we have decided to prepare a second edition of the Guide. Our aim was to maintain a short, concise text which never theless would incorporate changes that have occurred over the past four or five years. We have streamlined the description of pretransplant considerations, by condensing two sections into one (Treatment Planning and Timing of Transplantation). This also facilitated the review of controversial indications for marrow transplantation, for example in patients with acute myelogenous leukemia in first chemotherapy-induced remission. We have updated the chapter dealing with conditioning regimens and have expanded the section on donor selection, in particular in regard to the current level of tissue typing and the identification of unrelated volunteer donors. In the chapter on collection, processing, and infusion of marrow, we have incorporated recent developments, for example, the use of closed systems for marrow harvesting and processing and the use of solid phase separation of stem cells.

Bone Marrow Diagnosis, Third Edition, is an essential resource for pathologists and haematologists who need to report bone marrow trephine biopsies. Practical and highly illustrated this edition has been comprehensively updated whilst remaining succinct and concentrating on the core information necessary to make an accurate diagnosis. The text provides comparisons of the common methods of sample collection, fixation and staining, and a clear description of how to examine a trephine section. Applying a consistent approach, the chapters cover the range of disorders of bone marrow, discussing the clinical features, histopathology of bone marrow and diagnostic problems of each condition. Each chapter closes with a summary of key points and each diagnostic entity is accompanied by high quality images, over 900 in all, showing typical and more unusual examples of histological features. This compact text, oriented at diagnosis and comprehensively accompanied by usable illustrations, is an invaluable reference tool for the trainee and practicing histopathologists, pathologists and haematologists. A practical guide aimed at allowing a busy pathologist to easily find the essential description and illustration of the most common bone marrow diseases seen in trephines Covers new treatment for chronic myeloid leukaemia, B-cell lymphoma and antibody treatments High quality colour images accompany each diagnostic entity Coverage of cytology in sections relating to myeloid dysplasias and acute leukaemias Addresses lymphoma categorization and individual lymphoma entities Incorporates new WHO classifications of lymphomas and leukaemias

Book Description
The diagnosis of bone-marrow disorders by examining sections taken by aspiration or trephine biopsies is essentially a qualitative process requiring the pathologist to identify the abnormal structure and cellularity of bone marrow cells. Until now, the quality of published images in bone-marrow histopathology had been extremely variable--often with the crucial 'message' obscured by poor photography, poor reproduction, or both. The digitally photographed and remastered images in An Illustrated Guide to Bone Marrow Diagnosis are of the highest quality. These images have been copied directly from the microscope in digital format and reproduced in print form. Ideal for the trainee, the text offers comparisons of the common methods of sample collection, fixation and staining, together with a clear description of how to examine a trephine section. Disorders of bone marrow, clinical features, histopathology of bone marrow, and diagnostic problems of each condition are discussed. Chapters end with a summary of key points. The consistent approach in describing each condition makes this text a valuable and handy reference tool for the trained histopathologist.
