Book Description
A journey of words, a battle of the mind. How can we ever unravel the chaos in our world that we are living in? I can no longer hold my silence, I thought. Why have we not progressed in more meaningful ways, without the specter of doom staring right back at us? There are a myriad answers to be snatched at; but to what avail? The panic button is but an inch away; but who will push it? Answers, answers...... we all are crying out for; but the bell still tolls and rings out its deep, hollow empty reply. Are there answers to mankind's woes? Is there light at the end of our searching, and will we ever be satisfied with the answers we obtain? Almost daily, we are confronted as though looking over a precipice, seeing no hope of ever crossing to the other side, where the sun is rising, where we get a glimpse of new hope and a fresh start. "Blind Truth" will be confrontational, it will challenge us, it may stir the passions of right and wrong within us. However, there are things which will become undeniable to us, no matter which side of the fence we choose to be on. It is my greatest desire to attempt to bring together common, but perhaps forgotten, precepts that will help us forge ahead to a much brighter future.

Book Description
When ordinary people--mathematicians among them--take something to follow (deductively) from something else, they are exposing the backbone of our self-ascribed ability to reason. Jody Azzouni investigates the connection between that ordinary notion of consequence and the formal analogues invented by logicians. One claim of the book is that, despite our apparent intuitive grasp of consequence, we do not introspect rules by which we reason, nor do we grasp the scope and range of the domain, as it were, of our reasoning. This point is illustrated with a close analysis of a paradigmatic case of ordinary reasoning: mathematical proof.

Book Description
Ordinary language and scientific language enable us to speak about, in a singular way (using demonstratives and names), what we recognize not to exist: fictions, the contents of our hallucinations, abstract objects, and various idealized but nonexistent objects that our scientific theories are often couched in terms of. Indeed, references to such nonexistent items-especially in the case of the application of mathematics to the sciences-are indispensable. We cannot avoid talking about such things. Scientific and ordinary languages thus enable us to say things about Pegasus or about hallucinated objects that are true (or false), such as "Pegasus was believed by the ancient Greeks to be a flying horse," or "That elf I'm now hallucinating over there is wearing blue shoes." Standard contemporary metaphysical views and semantic analyses of singular idioms on offer in contemporary philosophy of language have not successfully accommodated these routine practices of saying true and false things about the nonexistent while simultaneously honoring the insight that such things do not exist in any way at all (and have no properties). That is, philosophers often feel driven to claim that such objects do exist, or they claim that all our talk isn't genuine truth-apt talk, but only pretence. This book reconfigures metaphysics (and the role of metaphysics in semantics) in radical ways that allow the accommodation of our ordinary ways of speaking of what does not exist while retaining the absolutely crucial presupposition that such objects exist in no way at all, have no properties, and so are not the truth-makers for the truths and falsities that are about them.

Book Description
The book offers a characterization of the meaning and role of the notion of truth in natural languages and an explanation of why, in spite of the big amount of proposals about truth, this task has proved to be resistant to the different analyses. The general thesis of the book is that defining truth is perfectly possible and that the average educated philosopher of language has the tools to do it. The book offers an updated treatment of the meaning of truth ascriptions from taking into account the latest views in philosophy of language and linguistics.

Book Description
SUPERCONTEMPLATIONS signifies a creative advance on the lower-case volume of abstract poetry entitled 'Contemplations' (1985), in that it combines upper- and lower-case monosyllabic words in the process of creating patterned entities which, whatever their subliminal message, require only to be contemplated, and are thus akin to a mode of 'word art', the only difference being that these 'poems' were created with a word-processing program rather than with a paint program involving characters.

Book Description
If we take mathematical statements to be true, must we also believe in the existence of abstract invisible mathematical objects? This text claims that the way to escape such a commitment is to accept true statements which are about objects that don't exist in any sense at all.
