Book Description
Biocharculture - Biochar for Environment and Development is the book based on the author's over a decade firsthand experience in research, development and use of biochar. Much of his overall insights and firsthand experiences have become available through this book. Biocharculture falls very much in a vision of an agriculture that supports and makes use of natural growing mechanism. Biochar is charcoal that is used for other purposes than heating. It can be a by-product or part of an entire production system. Biochar scores on many fronts: it improves the capacity of the soil to retain moisture but also nutrients, such as nitrogen and phosphorus. It helps regulate soil temperature and contribute to climate change mitigation. It improves soil life. I still remember that Sai Bhaskar explained a tiny piece of charcoal to me as being a ‘skyscraper for millions of soil biota’. There is still a world to gain – by better understanding this miraculous microbial world and the way our soils and landscapes work and this book hopes to contribute and give practical suggestions and directions. Interesting in some parts of the world biochar is part of the production process wherein other it is not. In other words, we need to create new traditions and farming cultures, as this book very much argues. One learns everything about biochar and its uses through this book.

Book Description
The ongoing environmental crisis has given rise to grave concerns everywhere, and a number of authors have approached this topic from various disciplines and points of view, proposing different strategies to address and correct the situation. A major problem, however, is presented by the role and possible efficiency of existing legal regimes, most of which do not consider seriously the ecological problems that are the basis of most of the global problems that beset us. In 2015, Italy hosted the 2015 Expo of Milano, an important fair that attempted to address some of these major issues, primarily the availability of safe food and water, and the legal regimes that govern their distribution. The conference that resulted in this volume took place at the University of Parma, an old university in a city roughly one hour away. This volume discusses a variety of environmental and ecological issues from the standpoint of existing legal instruments, with a primary focus on the necessity for ecologically-oriented governance, in order to mitigate and redress a situation that – at present – supports multiple human rights violations.

Book Description
All about understanding biomass stoves - designing, challenges, and facilitation. Anyone can make low-cost efficient stoves by reading this book. This is a pragmatic book based on the over a decade experience of the author in parts of India and abroad. This book presents the results of a decade of dedicated promotion and experimentation with fuel efficient stoves in India by my friend Sai Bhaskar Reddy Nakka. Sai Bhaskar’s approach has been original in many ways. He has investigated the different mixes of biomass used in different areas of India – not just fuel wood but also leaves, dung, pellets, briquettes, seeds and other materials. He then designed the different stoves accordingly. Sai Bhaskar also looked at different products from the stoves – obviously the direct heating but also the possibility of producing charcoal (Biochar) as a by-product from the stoves. This work is not lab-based but undertaken in the promotion campaigns he has been involved within Andhra Pradesh and parts of other states in India. The relevance of this work is large. Many people are and will remain dependent on local biomass for their daily needs. This issue of biomass has often associated with the degradation of the surrounding environment: the depletion of natural tree stands or the loss of nutrients to the growing cycle. It has also been associated with hardship: collecting biomass – typically by women – over large areas, and health issues because of excessive smoke from in-house fires. For all these reasons I am very happy that this book of ‘The Stove Man’ could be prepared, to share the praxis-based knowledge developed by a unique innovator and to serve as a source of inspiration and new ideas for those working in energy and development. We hope that this book gives an impulse to the constant effort to make lives better and richer. - Frank van Steenbergen, MetaMeta, Netherlands.

Geo Spirit is the consciousness on earth. “Geo Spirit” consists of two realms - “Geo” is the Earth, including biotic and abiotic worlds and “Spirit” is the consciousness of peace, freedom and harmony for oneself and everything else on this earth. Geo Spirit is the ever pervading consciousness on the earth at all levels, including the sub-atomic level. The human beings are the single species disharmonizing the earth. Geo Spirit is for understanding and getting connected to the earth. Geo Spirit ultimately aims at the oneness of the earth integrating and harmonizing the diversities. Consistent earth leadership is needed, to understand and participate in these processes for positive change. One should be sensitive and should be the means and cause of earth resources sustainability. Spirit manifests in oneness and freedom. Earth is a single living thing; in which we are also a part. Geo Spirit helps to understand why the earth has provided us everything to celebrate another day. One should also strive and question, why I am born on this earth? If I am living, what is the difference I can make? If there is no positive change that one is causing, then there is not much meaning to one’s life. That is the spirit of living. Through Geo Spirit, one’s awareness, sensitivity, knowledge, understanding, actions, and spirit become relevant to the harmony and well-being on earth and the infinite space. Through the "GEO SPIRIT," one could realize the possibility of becoming an "EARTH LEADER.". Each individual is an earth leader, when one is able to unleash their potential to bring the positive change on this earth. Ultimately, whatever one does, it is important to get connected to the earth.
