Bilateral Deficit
Author: James Lee Ramsey

Category : Blood sugar

Pages : 81
Book Description
Purpose: The study’s primary purpose was to determine if maximal unilateral strength is greater than maximal bilateral strength for the leg press and vertical dumbbell press exercises. The secondary purpose was to determine if blood glucose levels differ between the unilateral and bilateral conditions for the leg press exercise. Methods: Thirty college-aged volunteers reported on two separate occasions, 72 hours apart, for maximal strength testing. Blood glucose was obtained before and after strength testing for the leg press exercise. A paired samples t-test was conducted to determine significance (p

A Comparison of Bilateral Deficit and Muscle Strength Imbalance in Bilateral and Unilateral Predominant Contraction Sports
Author: Hui Ying Luk

Category : Jumping
Languages : en
Pages : 268
Book Description
Abstract: The study was designed to compare the bilateral deficit and muscle strength imbalance in bilateral (power-lifting) and unilateral (jumping) predominant contraction sports. Nineteen male subjects were included in the study. Two independent t-tests were used to compare the bilateral deficit and muscle strength imbalance between two groups. Fifteen 2 x 2 mixed factorial ANOVAs were used to examine the effect of two independent group witli two repeated measures factors (jump for dominant and non-dominant leg: 2 leg jump, single leg jump) and (dominance: dominant (D), non-dominant (ND)) with regards to five dependent variables: force, velocity, power, rate of force development, and height. Based on the analysis, the bilateral group had a lower limb symmetry index (p .05) than unilateral group; however, no difference (p .05) was observed in the bilateral deficit. Single leg jump has shown a (p

Beyond the Twin Deficits: A Trade Strategy for the 1990's
Author: Robert A. Blecker
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1315288311
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 163
Book Description
This study documents evidence of a decline trend in the international competitiveness of US industry. The analysis identifies three groups of countries that account for most of the US trade deficit in the 1980s: the surplus countries, Germany and Japan; the East Asian NICs; and the Latin American debtors. In each case the author points to underlying structural problems contributing to the deficit. They call for quite different US policy responses, including microeconomic and industrial policies, incentives to revive productivity, growth and technological innovation, import surcharges, wage increases in the NICs, currency realignments, US capital exports, and debt relief. A pragmatic policy approach, with efforts to open foreign markets, aims to achieve the greatest possible reduction in the trade deficit with the lowest possible cost from macroeconomic adjustments. The author urges the reversal of two adverse trends in his policy strategy: the decline in public sector investment and the decreasing progressivity of the tax code.
