Book Description
In the beginning, there was a man and a woman. Only they flourished with a very thin thread of human spirit that may support what appears to maintain a fragile equilibrium within the world. But now in the end, there could be nothing but devastation. The year is 2050. China is still trying to demonstrate the superiority of its Middle Kingdom mentality to achieve becoming the world's sole super power. Within the Chinese leadership, China would egotistically strive to become the sole instrument of mankind's relevance. But the world is not perfect. There are many demons that prowl over the surface of the Earth spreading their evil. Only the pure of heart or a very rare soul could withstand and defeat this evil. These mischievous imps can play havoc in the human lives that they molest. Moreover, some humans are very prideful that they believe they can set and define the destinies of lesser men, solely based upon their own wishes and their own hidden agendas to create wholesale disaster. One such individual would humble China and possibly all of mankind. Despite this, there are still those that are connected in some spiritual fashion, separated only by the spiral of space and time, where they could achieve greatness in the classical battle of good versus evil. Appearances are deceptive wearing a false but opaque mask never revealing reality or true intentions. Simple human events could induce such karma that can affect those far larger cosmic events, events measured only on a human scale that could include annihilation of everything that we know of or would believe. Will mankind triumph or will mankind falter? And what is the price that would be paid for failure? You can lose your job, your car, your house, and your family. But what if you lose your world? Such decisions may be decided not by consensus but by only a few troubled minds that are lost within the cosmic realm of things real and unreal...

Book Description
"The introductions in this anthology are meant to be just that: a basic overview of what students need to know before they begin reading, with topics that students can research further. An open access literature textbook cannot be a history book at the same time, but history is the great companion of literature: The more history students know, the easier it is for them to interpret literature. In an electronic age, with this text available to anyone with computer access around the world, it has never been more necessary to recognize and understand differences among nationalities and cultures. The literature in this anthology is foundational, in the sense that these works influenced the authors who followed them. A word to the instructor: The texts have been chosen with the idea that they can be compared and contrasted, using common themes. Rather than numerous (and therefore often random) choices of texts from various periods, these selected works are meant to make both teaching and learning easier. While cultural expectations are not universal, many of the themes found in these works are."--Open Textbook Library.

Book Description
Don't miss this "well-plotted, beautifully written story" (Library Journal) about a sexy Scot and the woman who finally captures his heart in the New York Times bestselling Windham Brides series. As a captain in the army, Colin MacHugh led men, fixed what was broken, and fought hard. Now that he's a titled gentleman, he's still fighting -- this time to keep his bachelorhood safe from all the marriage-minded debutantes. Then he meets the intriguing Miss Anwen Windham, whose demure nature masks a bonfire waiting to roar to life. When she asks for his help to raise money for the local orphanage, he's happy to oblige. Anwen is amazed at how quickly Lord Colin takes in hand a pack of rambunctious orphan boys. Amazed at how he actually listens to her ideas. Amazed at the thrill she gets from the rumble of his Scottish burr and the heat of his touch. But not everyone enjoys the success of an upstart. And Colin has enemies who will stop at nothing to ruin him and anybody he holds dear. "Sexy heroes, strong heroines, intelligent plots, enchanting love stories...Grace Burrowes's romances have them all." -- Mary Balogh, New York Times bestselling author "Grace Burrowes is a romance treasure." --Tessa Dare, New York Times bestselling author
