Book Description
The journey of writing Psychological Support by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Down Syndrome stems from my profound desire to bridge the gap between mental health and genetic understanding, particularly for individuals with Down syndrome. Over the years, I have observed the critical need for a structured and compassionate approach that addresses not only the cognitive challenges but also the emotional, psychological, and physiological complexities that individuals with Down syndrome face. This book is more than just a guide—it is a comprehensive resource designed to provide tools and insights for caregivers, therapists, and families who are supporting someone with Down syndrome. It integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with genetic and biological knowledge to offer a holistic method of care. By understanding the unique challenges faced by individuals with Down syndrome, this book aims to equip readers with the knowledge and practical strategies needed to foster independence, mental well-being, and emotional resilience. The content of this book is divided into several key areas. The first sections provide foundational knowledge about genetics, epigenetics, hereditary diseases, and congenital conditions, helping readers grasp the biological basis of Down syndrome. Following this, I delve into the nuances of trauma, pain management, and the impact of Down syndrome on various aspects of life, including education, relationships, and personal identity. The core of the book focuses on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a highly effective therapeutic approach for addressing behavioral and emotional issues. Through a series of chapters, I explore various CBT tools, techniques, and principles, all tailored to the specific needs of individuals with Down syndrome. From coping with pain and emotional distress to managing societal expectations and building mental resilience, these chapters provide actionable steps for applying CBT in everyday life. Moreover, this book does not shy away from the complexities of working with individuals who face both physical and mental challenges. Special attention is given to the personal experiences of those living with Down syndrome, offering perspectives on the emotional toll of genetic conditions and the critical role mental health plays in overall quality of life. My hope is that this book will serve as a supportive companion to those seeking to improve the well-being of individuals with Down syndrome. Whether you are a healthcare professional, therapist, family member, or individual with Down syndrome yourself, this book is meant to inspire, inform, and offer practical guidance. The path to mental and emotional health may be challenging, but with the right tools and understanding, I believe it is possible to build a fulfilling and empowered life. I invite you to explore these pages with an open mind and heart, knowing that the work we do together has the potential to make a real difference in the lives of those we care for.

Book Description
Beyond the Market launches a sociological investigation into economic efficiency. Prevailing economic theory, which explains efficiency using formalized rational choice models, often simplifies human behavior to the point of distortion. Jens Beckert finds such theory to be particularly weak in explaining such crucial forms of economic behavior as cooperation, innovation, and action under conditions of uncertainty--phenomena he identifies as the proper starting point for a sociology of economic action. Beckert levels an enlightened critique at neoclassical economics, arguing that understanding efficiency requires looking well beyond the market to the social, cultural, political, and cognitive factors that influence the coordination of economic action. Beckert searches social theory for the components of an alternative theory of action, one that accounts for the social embedding of economic behavior. In Durkheim and Parsons he finds especially useful approaches to cooperation; in Luhmann, a way to understand how people act under highly contingent conditions; and in Giddens, an understanding of creative action and innovation. Together, these provide building blocks for a research program that will yield a theoretically sophisticated understanding of how economic processes are coordinated and the ways that markets are embedded in social, cultural, and cognitive structures. Containing one of the most fully informed critiques of the neoclassical analysis of economic efficiency--as well as one of the most thoughtful blueprints for economic sociology--this book reclaims for sociology the study of one of the most important arenas of human action.

You will find this book an invaluable source of guidance to attain this goal. Christian school leaders are encouraged to reassess traditional course offerings of solely academics to discover how vocational educational options can be offered to their students. This book will not only challenge Christian school administrators and ministry leaders to explore vocational career and technical training programs, but also guide them in all aspects of the addition and development of the programs, including academic and biblical integration. Uniquely talented vocational students have been overlooked and abandoned in Christian education for far too long. The vocational educational field is white unto harvest! Think about it: If access to discipleship had been limited to only the academically inclined, the fishermen, the tentmakers, and the carpenters would have been excluded!

Often beginning in infancy, this condition brings unique physical, emotional, and social hurdles that require comprehensive management strategies. The intertwining of medical, psychological, and social aspects demands an approach that goes beyond medical treatment, focusing on holistic support for mental health, coping mechanisms, and resilience. Psychological Support by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Menkes Disease was written to provide those affected by Menkes disease—patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers—with accessible, evidence-based psychological support tools to navigate the often-overwhelming experiences that accompany this condition. This book integrates the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a widely respected therapeutic approach, to address both the emotional and cognitive impacts of living with a chronic genetic illness. By adapting CBT techniques to the specific needs of Menkes patients, this guide offers a pathway to understanding and managing emotional responses, pain, social challenges, and the unique stressors associated with rare genetic disorders. The book is organized into parts to address different layers of support, beginning with a foundational understanding of Menkes disease and genetics, followed by a detailed exploration of CBT tools tailored to the condition. Book Description
Do you know how banking and money will look like in the new digital age? This book collects the voices of leading scholars, entrepreneurs, policy makers and consultants who, through their expertise and keen analytical skills, are best positioned to picture from various angles the ongoing technological revolution in banking and finance. You will learn how lending and borrowing can exist without banks; how new forms of money can compete to better serve different society needs; how new technologies are banking the unbanked communities in the poorest parts of the world, and how ideas and small projects can be financed by the crowds without the need to rely upon banks. You will learn how, in the new digital age, we will interact with new self-organised and autonomous companies that operate without any human involvement, based on a set of programmed and incorruptible rules. You will learn that new business models will emerge thanks to technology-enabled platforms, upon which one can build new forms of non-hierarchical cooperation between strangers. And you will also learn that new forms of risks and threats are emerging that will destabilise our systems and jeopardise the stability of our financial order.
