Book Description
There are many ways to open the door of inclusion. Explore these questions to find out how. What are your words saying? How do you respond to a person who has obvious difference than you? What do you do when physical barriers keep someone who uses a wheelchair from accessing a public facility? What do you do when disabilities are not obvious? How do you give assistance to a person with a disability? These are just some questions to raise your awareness of the many facets of disability! Have you ever been in a situation when you just didn't know what to do or say when interacting with a person who has an obvious disability and feel awkward? Let us show you how you can become more sensitive, knowing, and accepting of people with disabilities as we demonstrate through the stories and activities in Beyond Disability Etiquette Matters how to breakdown attitudinal barriers, and how to interact with people with disabilities in an inclusive way. You will discover how to use appropriate language, how to offer assistance, the myths and facts about perceptions about people with disabilities, the ten commandments of communicating, and how to focus on the person rather than the disability. Are you willing to promote change and omit attitudinal barriers, which will make you more confident and accepting of obvious differences? With the contents of this workbook, it will help you learn ways on how to understand meanings of words and implications. We will never be politically correct all the time, but with effort and willingness to learn, barriers can be broken! Ellen Shackelford and Marguerite Edmonds are two people with a great deal of personal experience and passion about educating the public regarding disability matters. Book Description
From the Jar of Blessings is a compilation of about 270 blessings and/or inspirational quotes that were sent to me by family and friends over a period of eleven years. I would write each blessing/quote on bright-colored squares of paper, fold them up, and put them in a big glass olive jar I have. For this book, I have taken each blessing and/or quote and written my thoughts about them. Some of the blessings/quotes are deeply personal while others are quite funny. This book reminds us that God sends us blessings and inspiration on a regular basis, whether it be a simple blessing such as a small act of kindness or a huge blessing such as sparing a life after what could have been a fatal accident. All too often, we are so busy that we don’t take the time to focus on the blessings all around us. Some of the blessings in this book were sent to me by adults, and others were sent by kids. For some reason, kids have an easier time recognizing blessings. One boy sent in the following blessing: “I am thankful a boy in my class spoke up and stopped someone from bullying me.” I was so blessed to know that there were students at the school who were willing to stand up for others. Bullying is such a problem in our schools, and it is so important that children and adults stand up against it. The blessings/quotes in this book deal with topics such as Alzheimer’s disease, caregiving, lack of finances, cancer, and many more. Hopefully, the blessings and/or quotes in this book will cause you to look at day-to-day life from a different perspective.

This book summary and analysis was created for individuals who want to extract the essential contents and are too busy to go through the full version. This book is not intended to replace the original book. Instead, we highly encourage you to buy the full version. We live in a world constantly listening to the lies our fears and shame tell. They counteract gratitude, acceptance, and compassion—the good parts of us. They keep telling us, “I am not worthy,” even when you are worthy. You’re worthy of self-discovery, personal growth, and love. Brené Brown’s New York Times bestseller, The Gifts of Imperfection, has sold more than 2 million copies in more than 30 languages and was recently named by Forbes as one of the “Five Books That Will Actually Change Your Outlook On Life.” And it shares the mission of helping us find courage in overcoming paralyzing fear and self-consciousness, cultivating our connection to the world. Brené Brown, Ph.D. is an inspiring guide to help us live a wholehearted life and she creates more than just the typical self-help book—she boosts our self-esteem and personal development through her honest and warm storytelling. With extensive research to back her stories, she shares the psychology of an “imperfect” life and embracing life with authenticity. Her ten guideposts show how we can cultivate authenticity in our lives—a perfectly imperfect life. We are beginning to have a need to nurture our self-worth. This includes self-acceptance and self-love. In a world full of criticism and fear, we can dig deeper and find the truth and gratitude hidden in our lives. We can now pave a new path forward without holding onto self-defeating thoughts or pain. We can now begin to embrace imperfection. Wait no more, take action and get this book now!

Book Description
"A look up at the night sky reveals a treasury of wonders. Even to the naked eye, the Moon, stars, planets, the Milky Way and even a few star clusters and nebulae illuminate the heavens. For millennia, humans struggled to make sense of what's out there in the Universe, from all we can see to that which lies beyond the limits of even our most powerful telescopes. Beyond the Galaxy traces our journey from an ancient, Earth-centered Universe all the way to our modern, 21st century understanding of the cosmos. Touching on not only what we know but also how we know it, Ethan Siegel takes us to the very frontiers of modern astrophysics and cosmology, from the birth of our Universe to its ultimate fate, and everything in between."--

Beyond Positivism, Behaviorism, and Neoinstitutionalism in Economics

Book Description
A penetrating analysis from one of the defining voices of contemporary economics. In Beyond Positivism, Behaviorism, and Neoinstitutionalism in Economics, Deirdre Nansen McCloskey zeroes in on the authoritarian cast of recent economics, arguing for a re-focusing on the liberated human. The behaviorist positivism fashionable in the field since the 1930s treats people from the outside. It yielded in Williamson and North a manipulative neo-institutionalism. McCloskey argues that institutions as causes are mainly temporary and intermediate, not ultimate. They are human-made, depending on words, myth, ethics, ideology, history, identity, professionalism, gossip, movies, what your mother taught you. Humans create conversations as they go, in the economy as in the rest of life. In engaging and erudite prose, McCloskey exhibits in detail the scientific failures of neo-institutionalism. She proposes a “humanomics,” an economics with the humans left in. Humanomics keeps theory, quantification, experiment, mathematics, econometrics, though insisting on more true rigor than is usual. It adds what can be learned about the economy from history, philosophy, literature, and all the sciences of humans. McCloskey reaffirms the durability of “market-tested innovation” against the imagined imperfections to be corrected by a perfect government. With her trademark zeal and incisive wit, she rebuilds the foundations of economics.
