Book Description
Ethics and Danger examines Heidegger’s association with German National Socialism and attempts to understand both the question of politics in Heidegger’s thought and the thought that gives rise to that question. It explores the contribution of Heidegger’s work to issues of ethics, technology, and social theory, as well as his relationship to other thinkers such as Parmenides, Aristotle, Hegel, Husserl, Benjamin, Levinas, Rorty, Foucault, and Derrida. Finally, it addresses the more general question of the future of ethical thought within continental philosophy. In order to engage the ethical issues surrounding Heidegger’s life and thought, the authors speak of dangers such as facism and the facile, self-congratulatory moral stance that Heidegger exemplifies. The question of how to speak in the wake of Heidegger’s thought takes many forms, and the answers represent a diversity of viewpoints from both American and continental thinkers.

Book Description
Meet Ron Rogers, adventurer, naturalist and extraordinaire. His guardian angel and conversations with God have accompanied him as he found continual excitement, whether deliberately pursued in foreign lands or encountered in his own backyard. Come along on remarkable escapades as Ron houses and handles venomous snakes, fights off lurking sea creatures intent on taking his life, deals with bandits and bands of machete-wielding natives. Follow him as he recounts astonishing and often harrowing incidents as he flirts with death in abyssal mine shafts, defies glaciers, experiences starvation, and flees from the jaws and claws of Komodo Dragons in Indonesia, and finds himself crying out to God in desperation and in gratitude. Ron's many photos further document the selected miraculous episodes described within this volume. If you weren't a believer before reading this book, reliving the life-threatening and life-changing incidents with Ron surely will compel you to ponder the occurrence of miracles in your own life, and thereby ultimately inspire you to seriously consider God's existence. The author's undying thirst for adventure is so much a part of Ronald D. Rogers that he cannot imagine leading the mundane life that most people do. At the same time, spiritual enlightment, development and appreciation for the power of God through intervention, has guided his journey for life. Now in his mid-sixties, though still plagued with health problems, Ron teaches young people how to appreciate God's creations in the natural world that he so enjoys. He now searches to perpetuate his stead upon his retirement from earthly existence. Presently, Ron and his wife reside in the mountains of northern California glorifying God with his personal natural history museum.

Book Description
Researchers frequently experience sexualized interactions, sexual objectification, and harassment as they conduct fieldwork. These experiences are often left out of ethnographers’ “tales from the field” and remain unaddressed within qualitative literature. Harassed argues that the androcentric, racist, and colonialist epistemological foundations of ethnographic methodology contribute to the silence surrounding sexual harassment and other forms of violence. Rebecca Hanson and Patricia Richards challenge readers to recognize how these attitudes put researchers at risk, further the solitude experienced by researchers, lead others to question the validity of their work, and, in turn, negatively impact the construction of ethnographic knowledge. To improve methodological training, data collection, and knowledge produced by all researchers, Harassed advocates for an embodied approach to ethnography that reflexively engages with the ways in which researchers’ bodies shape the knowledge they produce. By challenging these assumptions, the authors offer an opportunity for researchers, advisors, and educators to consider the multiple ways in which good ethnographic research can be conducted. Beyond challenging current methodological training and mentorship, Harassed opens discussions about sexual harassment and violence in the social sciences in general.
