Book Description
About 1991, I was living in a spare room in my sister's house. She was having a difficult time and would soon be selling her house. I had worked so hard and for so long, and I found myself having no money, plus there were rumors of big layoffs in the oil industry. My best estimate was ninety days, and I would have to claim my corner of that I-10 overpass to beg for food. It was an undesirable situation, and it wasn't fair. My whole entire thinking process had to be wrong. I began writing my autobiography before I started giving my money talk, while teaching safety training classes for oilfield workers, and I wanted to write both books, so I just combined them. This book was written for my children and grandchildren, and if anyone else finds it interesting, then good.

Book Description
Do you wonder why you get yourself into arguments that don’t matter, or you say things you don’t mean but sound really mean? Would you like to learn how to change that? In How to Say What you Mean without Being Mean, author Jan D. Thomas offers a Christian-based guide to help you better communicate with others. Thomas explores a host of issues and suggests ways to communicate more effectively and facilitate more harmony in your relationships—with God and others—while learning to understand and even love yourself better. How to Say What you Mean without Being Mean discusses: • what communication is; • the role of communication and ways to work at it; • learning how to communicate; • the results of poor communication; • reprogramming your communication process; • hearing and understanding; • the problem of pride in communication; • resolving conflict; and more. This guide communicates that as a Christian, you have a power within you to help you improve your relationships with others. That power stems from God, is God, and it is the power to love as God loves.

Book Description
Since the days of the early church, Christians have struggled to find a way to be "good"--to please God by their own efforts. They end up carrying a burden God never intended them to bear. And what's more, their brand of Christianity ends up looking like any other religion of the world--bound by joyless rules and rituals. Fritz Ridenour's study of the book of Romans provides an antidote to the pharisaical spirit and shows that Christianity is not a religion but a relationship. It is not people reaching up, but God reaching down. All Christians can enjoy their birthright when they realize who they are in Christ. The result is a life full of hope, joy, power, and potential.

Book Description
Many people equate evangelical Christianity with conservatism in religion, politics, theology and social attitudes. Some are scandalized by any separation between them. As one evangelical pastor's wife declared to a church group "We are a conservative people!" In fact, however, evangelicals have not always been conservative; radical stances on doctrines, worship, social norms, politics and church leadership have often marked evangelicalism in the past. The 2007 movie Amazing Grace about William Wilberforce's protracted battle against the slave trade featured a small group of British evangelicals committed to abolition. The same radicalism characterized much of American evangelicalism in the years before the Civil War. In recent years the American media have portrayed the evangelical movement as a conservative force in society sometimes equating it with fundamentalism and puritanism. The missing piece of the story is, however, that both fundamentalism and puritanism contained radical elements that opposed the status quo. This book sets forth evidence that the link between evangelicalism and conservatism has not always been as strong as it is today in the popular mind and it will provide suggestions for contemporary evangelicals who want to remain evangelical (and not become "post-evangelical") without identifying with conservatism in every way.
