Book Description
Baba Dunja is a Chernobyl returnee. Together with a motley bunch of former neighbours, they set off to create a new life for themselves in the radioactive no-man's land. Geiger counter and irradiated forest fruits be damned, there in that abandoned patch of Earth they have everything they need. Terminally ill Petrov passes the time reading love poems in his hammock; Marja takes up with 100-year-old Sidorow; Baba Dunja whiles away her days writing letters to her daughter... rural bliss reigns, until one day a stranger turns up in the village, and the small settlement faces annihilation once again. With her trade-mark wry humour Bronsky tells the story of a community that shouldn't exist, and of a very unusual woman who late in life finds her own version of paradise.

Pages : 430
Book Description
T he material in this volume is culled from over two thousand stories about Maharajji gathered during five years from more than one hundred devotees. To these devotees who shared their treasured memo ries, I wish to express my deep love and appreciation. Some of them felt that no book could or should be written about a being with qualities as vast, formless, and subtle as Maharajji’s, and yet they contributed their stories nevertheless. I honor them for this kindness and I hope that in my zeal to share experiences of Maharajji with others who were not fortu nate enough to have met him, I have not misused their trust. Some devotees tell me that stories told by other devotees are not fac tually accurate. I have no way of ascertaining the authenticity of any single story. All I can report is that those o f us who gathered the stories were impressed by the credibility of those of us who told the stories. Though the responsibility for this manuscript lies solely with me, I am delighted to acknowledge a lot o f loving help from my friends:

Love Everyone
Author: Parvati Markus
Publisher: HarperCollins

Pages : 355
Book Description
A celebration of one of the most influential spiritual leaders of our time: Neem Karoli Baba, the enlightened guru who inspired a generation of seekers—including Ram Dass, Daniel Goleman, and Larry Brilliant—on life-altering journeys that helped change the world. In 1967, Ram Dass returned to the West from India and spread the teachings of his mysterious guru, Neem Karoli Baba, better known as Maharajji. Ram Dass’s words about Maharajji’s life-affirming wisdom resonated with a youth culture that had grown disillusioned with the violence, civil discord, and crude materialism of modern civilization. Hundreds of Westerners traveled to India and experienced Maharajji’s extraordinary presence directly until his death in 1973. His simple directives—love everyone, feed everyone, and remember God—opened their hearts and awakened their souls. What these followers brought back to the West has since changed the landscape of everyday life. Meditation is now mainstream; yoga studios are in every town; and mindfulness is practiced in elementary schools and board-rooms everywhere, from Silicon Valley to Capitol Hill. A stirring piece of history, Love Everyone brings these stories to life, sharing for the first time the inspiring tales of the men and women who followed the siren call of the East to the foothills of the Himalayas, then returned to forever reshape the world. A compelling and inspiring tribute to Maharajji from the Western men and women who knew him best, Love Everyone is a profound teaching on the power of love, as lasting and transformative as the truth, wisdom, and bliss of Maharajji.

Book Description
Relationship is a precious tool that offers us the opportunity to awaken to the love that often lies dormant within us. Yet, unfortunately, over the course of my journey as a seeker of truth, I have found relationship to be the cause of great anguish for many people. When a relationship becomes difficult, it is easy to blame one's partner-the "other"-and to be consumed by the feeling of having been treated unfairly because we are disappointed that the one we loved is not fitting our internal idea of what a loved one "should" be. When relationship is viewed as a battlefield, with two people stuck in an endless war, it seems impossible to find a truly loving connection. This situation is what led me to write this book. To offer some light and guidance on the path toward understanding what "real" or authentic love looks like in a relationship and how to uncover it hidden beneath the sometimes destructive and frequently confusing idea that we generally think of as love. My book is an attempt to address the missing elements in contemporary relationships and to bring us back into alignment with our higher purpose of living from a place of authentic love within those relationships. To help put us back on track with the divine nature of real love by examining the mostly unconscious role that we play in sabotaging our own love story-a role that keeps us from finding true love. To this end, I offer what I call the New Marriage. In order to participate in the New Marriage, we have to have the courage to face our own deep wounds that cause us to bring negativity into our love connections. We have to take a courageous look at what prevents us from finding our truest happiness in love. Many of us have been taught that making our partner happy is the most important part of relationship. But without a healthy foundation and understanding of ourselves, this can create dependency, resentment, and an endless striving to please. In my book, I address much of what I have learned about relationship over the years-from my students and from the laboratory of my own life. I suggest a way out of the battlefield and on to the path of love and sexuality as a deep expression-a prayer-that can heal and free us from the repression of unhealthy attachment. It is my hope that as we examine relationship at its deepest level, we will open up to understanding relationship as a divine instrument that can lead us toward illumination of our divine spirit. In fact, I believe relationship is the most precious and effective tuning device that we find on our evolutionary journey, worthy of our deepest study and respect. Our lives are about relationship and if we can heal those relationships, we can start to heal our families and begin to heal the wounds of the world. The goal of New Marriage is to awaken unconditional love that overflows into a world in which harmony, peace, and love reign. Thank you for joining me on this journey. May authentic love awaken across the world. About the AuthorSri Prem Baba was born in São Paulo, Brazil and studied psychology and yoga. He became a disciple of the master Sri Sachcha Baba Maharaj Ji, of the Indian Sachcha lineage. As a humanitarian leader and spiritual master, he founded the global movement Awaken Love with the purpose of re-establishing and raising human values to awaken loving consciousness. He splits his time between Brazil and India, where he gives courses, lectures and retreats. He is the author of Transformando o sofrimento em alegria (From Suffering to Joy) and Propósito: A coragem de ser quem somos (Purpose: The courage to be who we are). He has also written messages of wisdom which he calls the "Flower of the Day," distributed on a daily basis to thousands of people and translated into various languages.

Book Description
Dear Baba Yaga, I think I must crave male attention too much. I fear that, without it, I would feel invisible. BABA YAGA: When you seek others this way, you are invisible nonetheless. Yr shawl is covered in mirrors in which others admire themselves; this is why they greet you so passionately. It is good to be seen, but it is better to see. Find a being to look hard into, & you will see yrself and what is more than you. In age-old Slavic fairy tales, the witch Baba Yaga is sought out by those with a burning need for guidance. In contemporary life, Baba Yaga—a dangerous, slippery oracle—answered earnest questions on The Hairpin for years. These pages collect her most poignant, surreal, and humorous exchanges along with all-new questions and answers for those seeking her mystical advice.

Book Description
“May Ram Dass’s intimate and heartfelt account inspire others to find their own path of true love, compassion, and joyful service.” —Thich Nhat Hanh, author of The Heart of Buddha’s Teaching Ram Dass’s long-awaited Be Love Now is the transformational teaching of a forty-year journey to the heart. The author of the two-million-copy classic Be Here Now and its influential sequel Still Here, Dass is joined once more by Rameshwar Das—a collaborator from the Love Serve Remember audio recordings—to offer this intimate and inspiring exploration of the human soul. He planted seeds that turned into a million trees; if and when they blossom, they will exude the fragrance of his teaching forever.” —Marianne Williamson “Be Love Now reveals the true meaning of yoga, the union of the open heart—this is required reading for anyone who follows a path of devotion.” —Daniel Goleman, New York Times–bestselling author of Emotional Intelligence
