Book Description
With its focus on narrow band imaging, this book is an excellent reference for new as well as experienced practitioners in the field of endoscopy. Narrow band imaging has brought about a revolutionary improvement in diagnostic endoscopy, enabling objective diagnosis and precise detection of lesions. It has enhanced the capability of endoscopy to facilitate qualitative diagnoses for the great benefit of patients who undergo endoscopic examinations. However, a standardized system of classification has not yet been established and many clinicians and researchers are not yet highly skilled in utilizing the technique or interpreting the images that are produced. This atlas addresses those issues, providing clear, simple and easy-to-understand descriptions illustrated with generous use of endoscopic images.

Book Description
This book covers all aspects of narrow band imaging (NBI), including research, general principles and diagnostic features in various ENT pathologies. In addition to highlighting the advantages of NBI over white light endoscopy for the detection of early cancers and lesions that are less than 1 cm in diameter, the book offers a step-by-step approach to help readers easily grasp various pathologies of the upper aerodigestive tract. It discusses both malignant and non-malignant aspects of NBI and provides extensive information on inflammatory lesions of the upper aerodigestive tract, including various clinical features of laryngopharyngeal reflux. Subsequent chapters cover the most difficult aspects of NBI in treated mucosa (post-chemo radiated), in which the potential recurrence of disease is a key question. It also addresses the limitations of NBI, including false positive and false negative cases. Given its scope, the book will benefit otolaryngologists, oncosurgeons, radiation oncologists and oral medicine practitioners, as well as graduate students of ENT, radiotherapy, oral medicine and oncosurgery.

Book Description
Since magnifying endoscopy of the stomach, or zoom gastroscopy, was first performed at the beginning of the 21st century , there have been numerous findings in the field worldwide. The author of this volume has developed a standardized magnifying endoscopy technique that enables endoscopists to constantly visualize the microanatomy (subepithelial capillaries and the epithelial structure) within the stomach. With this technology, it has become easy to obtain magnified endoscopic findings. Techniques differ, however, depending upon the endoscopist. Endoscopists around the world do not have a standardized magnifying endoscopy technique, which is mandatory for the scientific analysis of their findings. In addition, there is no logical explanation for how and which microanatomies are visualized by magnifying endoscopy with narrow-band imaging in the glandular epithelium of the stomach. This inconsistency results in considerable confusion among researchers and clinicians and a lack of terminology for the purposes of analysis. As magnifying endoscopy with narrow-band imaging (NBI) becomes more popular throughout the world, there is increased demand for a specialized reference book focused on this subject. The aims of the present volume, Zoom Gastroscopy: Magnifying Endoscopy in the Stomach, are manifold: (1) to illustrate the standard magnifying endoscopic technique that can visualize subepithelial mucosal microvessels as small as capillaries, the smallest unit of blood vessels in the human body, (2) to explain the optical phenomena and principles for NBI and its application to magnifying endoscopy, (3) to clarify which microanatomies are visualized by magnifying endoscopy with NBI and how this is achieved, and (4) to present a diagnostic system so called “VS classification system” for early gastric neoplasias. With a single author, the book consistently uses uniform anatomical terms to describe endoscopic findings, providing an essential reference for endoscopists in the world.

Book Description
Endoscopy in Early Gastrointestinal Cancers, Volume 1: Diagnosis provides detailed information of the technique of novel endoscopic diagnostic tools including magnifying endoscopy, narrow band imaging system (NBI), autofluorescence endoscopy (AFI), endocytoscopy, FICE and confocal endomicroscopy. Carcinoma of the gastrointestinal tract remained a major health issue worldwide, which is, however notoriously difficult to treat. One of the major reasons for such a poor result is that these cancers are diagnosed at advanced stage. There is a recent increase in the number of gastrointestinal cancers diagnosed at early stage. This is attributed to an increasing recognition of these early stage cancers through a recent development in the technology of endoscopy. This book on the endoscopic diagnosis of early GI neoplasia, containing lots of illustrations, artwork and numerous short video clips, serves as a bridge between the recent development in endoscopy and the knowledge of gastroenterologist, endoscopist and surgeons.
