Book Description
This is a book about science, religion, and the world in between. I was born into a Christian family, but fell out of religion and in love with the scientific method. I had little need of faith, I thought, when science could tell me so much more about the world, and ask so little of me in return. But as I aged into young adulthood, a new chapter of my story began. Did I really know why I believed what I believed? How could I be so certain of my convictions when I hadn't even honestly considered the evidence? This book traces my journey through the furthest reaches of thought, a journey that took me through the realms of psychology, biology, physics, and belief. Could I find a place for faith in the modern world? Or was I right to cast it off as I did?

Book Description
Neither the physical nor the metaphysical Science are of interest to the true philanthropist, except in the degree of their potentiality of moral results, and in proportion of their usefulness to mankind. Nature works slowly but incessantly towards the evolution of conscious life out of inert material. Every thought passes into the inner world and, by coalescing with an elemental, it becomes an active intelligence. Thus a good thought is perpetuated as an active beneficent power; an evil one, as a maleficent demon. The Buddhist calls this impulse-seed his Skandha; the Hindu, his Karma; the Adept evolves these shapes consciously; other men throw them off unconsciously. Every form of life is sustained by countless other lives. If you offer nothing in return, you are like a thief. The building ant, the busy bee, the nest-building bird accumulate, each in their own humble way, as much cosmic energy in its potential form as a Haydn, a Plato, or a ploughman turning his furrow. They thus rob nature instead of enriching her, and will all in the degree of their intelligence find themselves accountable. Exact experimental Science has nothing to do with morality, virtue, or philanthropy. Her cold classification of facts outside man can only benefit the career of her professors. The Initiated Adept is the efflorescence of his age. Few ever appear in a single century. The cycles must run their rounds. Periods of mental and moral light and darkness succeed each other, as day does night. The major and minor yugas must be accomplished according to the established order of things. And we, borne along on the mighty tide, can only modify and direct some of its minor currents. If we had the powers of the imaginary Personal God, and the universal and immutable laws were but toys to play with, then indeed might we have created conditions that would have turned this earth into an Arcadia for lofty souls. But having to deal with an immutable Law, being ourselves its creatures, we have had to do what we could and rest thankful. Modern education enthrones scepticism and imprisons spiritualism. The boisterousness of animal passions stifles spirituality. What else could one expect of men so nearly related to the lower kingdom, from which they evolved? The era of blind faith is gone; that of enquiry is here. Enquiry that only unmasks error, without discovering anything upon which the soul can build, will but make iconoclasts. The noble aim of the progressive mind is to furnish the building blocks for a universal religious philosophy. A philosophy impregnable to scientific assault, because itself the finality of absolute science; and, a religion worthy of the name. The main aim of the Theosophical Society is to root out superstition and scepticism, and to help man shape his future. The cis-Himalayan Mahatmas will not be thwarted in their philanthropic attempts to save humanity from itself until that day when the new continent of thought is firmly established.

Book Description
Our common sense, the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence, and our foundations of faith are under severe attack! This has compelled Kevin McGary to write about what he observes as a new era of illogical and completely irrational agendas dominating current U.S. government leadership. McGary presents a refreshing voice with compelling evidence that speaks to how 'we the people, ' through 'blind trust' and lack of involvement, may have been wholly complicit in supporting the erosion of rights, liberties, and freedoms. He contends, collective zeal for a new era of 'hope and change' has prompted irrational support for government leadership made up of charismatic personalities grounded in the strategic use of masterful rhetoric infused with intellectual dishonesty, and devoid of substance needed to move the country forward. Through thoughtful analysis presented from multiple vantage points, McGary illuminates why and how a state of instant and selective insanity has permeated the current political spectrum. McGary is an African American with strong roots in voting democratic, and is a member of the NAACP. He confirms that while current party platforms and progressive agendas for healthcare, education and abortion have provided lofty rhetoric for the Democratic Party, they actually result in debilitating and oppressive social agendas and schemes that only perpetuate further enslavement of the 'under-privileged' and 'under-served!' He presents evidence confirming the actual social justice foundations proclaimed by our forefathers: 'life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness, ' and their human rights proclamation: 'liberty and justice for all, ' are even further undermined by current 'new era' politicians at the expense of the progressive agenda. In the end, McGary contends the U.S suffers from a lack of leadership in that there is a lack of competence and general lack of experience in the current administration. This has lead to a significant erosion of the primary foundations that have facilitated our history of success! Undermining of faith foundations and the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence threatens to propel the country back into the state of oppression and tyranny it fled when becoming an independent nation. Needless to say, supporting this cycle is irrational and illogical. Doing the same things over again yet expecting different results, is Alert Einstein's definition of insanity. The culmination of the facts surrounding our current direction and support of 'progressive' leadership are carefully presented as evidence of our general state of...instani

Book Description
"There is only one way to deal with bullies, even in this politically correct world—and that is to crush them." USA Today bestselling author Anthony DeStefano is tired of playing nice. After years of responding patiently and agreeably to the pseudo-intellectual arguments and tactics of today’s militant atheists, he’s had enough. In this entertaining, no-holds-barred retort to atheism and its proponents, DeStefano reveals the intellectual bankruptcy at atheism’s core and equips believers to respond to its hollow arguments. A witty and devastating takedown of the "new atheist" position, Inside the Atheist Mind systematically debunks the theories of Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, and others, revealing how inconsistent, illogical, and frankly ludicrous their conclusions truly are. Poking fun at atheists in a clever and intelligent way, DeStefano demonstrates just how full of holes the new atheism is and reveals that it is actually a "religion" of its own, complete with a creed, a set of commandments and sacraments, and a rigid moral code with rewards and punishments. More than that, DeStefano exposes that atheism is itself a "superstition" of the worst kind. Using irony and a healthy dose of playful sarcasm, Inside the Atheist Mind lampoons, teases, and deflates the atheist position, unmasking it for what it is--an empty, intellectually barren philosophy, devoid of any logic and common sense.

Book Description
As the forerunners of Indian modernization, the community of Bengali intellectuals known as the Brahmo Samaj played a crucial role in the genesis and development of every major religious, social, and political movement in India from 1820 to 1930. David Kopf launches a comprehensive generation- to-generation study of this group in order to understand the ideological foundations of the modern Indian mind. His book constitutes not only a biographical and a sociological study of the Brahmo Samaj, but also an intellectual history of modern India that ranges from the Unitarian social gospel of Rammohun Roy to Rabindranath Tagore's universal humanism and Jessie Bose's scientism. From a variety of biographical sources, many of them in Bengali and never before used in research, the author makes available much valuable information. In his analysis of the interplay between the ideas, the consciousness, and the lives of these early rebels against the Hindu tradition, Professor Kopf reveals the subtle and intricate problems and issues that gradually shaped contemporary Indian consciousness. What emerges from this group portrait is a legacy of innovation and reform that introduced a rationalist tradition of thought, liberal political consciousness, and Indian nationalism, in addition to changing theology and ritual, marriage laws and customs, and the status of women. Book Description
Neuroscience has found that neuroplasticity of brain cells allows brains to invent themselves. Remodeling of brains can be facilitated by schools and universities. What may be done to accelerate that positive inventing so as to prepare for rapidly accelerating change? As an IBM advertisement reads: “It is time to ask smarter questions.” This book helps the reader do that. What is worse than being blind to something? “Being blind to your blindness” says Eric Haseltine who has worked for both Disney and the National Security Agency. Being blind to what our brains can do is slowly changing. Brain researchers recently found that we can now be our own subjects of brain experimentation. Research shows how one can change one’s brain by changing one’s mind. In her 2010 high school valedictorian speech Erica Goldson courageously said: “The majority of students are put through the same brainwashing techniques in order to create a complacent labor force working in the interests of large corporations and secretive government, and worst of all, they are completely unaware of it.” This book shows professors, teachers, parents, and interested citizens how students can become aware and reach higher levels of consciousness.
