Book Description
Excerpt from Archives of Ophthalmology, Vol. 51: Founded in 1869 Fig. I is a reproduction of a photograph Of the patient on admission to the hospital, and Fig. 2 shows how he appeared two and' one half months later. Luxation Of the eyeball is Of rare occurrence in exophthalmic goiter. While it is only an incident in the course of the disease, the treatment must be immediate and drastic or the effect on the vision may be most disastrous. Our knowledge of the aetiology Of the cardinal symptoms of exophthalmic goiter is still too indefinite to permit Of more than conjecture in regard to the causes Of the disease. But, assuming that congestion Of the blood-vessels plays a part in the exophthalmos, it may not be unreasonable to suggest that the lifting Of three hundred eighty-pound weights each day, as in the case reported, was one Of the contributing factors in the causation Of the extreme exophthalmos. ISBN: 9533075678
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 366
Book Description
Since long ago scientists have been trying hard to show up the core of glaucoma. To its understanding we needed to penetrate gradually to its molecular level. The newest pieces of knowledge about the molecular biology of glaucoma are presented in the first section. The second section deals with the clinical problems of glaucoma. Ophthalmologists and other medical staff may find here more important understandings for doing their work. What would our investigation be for, if not owing to the people’s benefit? The third section is full of new perspectives on glaucoma. After all, everybody believes and relies – more or less – on bits of hopes of a better future. Just let us engage in the mystery of glaucoma, to learn how to cure it even to prevent suffering from it. Each information in this book is an item of great importance as a precious stone behind which genuine, through and honest piece of work should be observed.
