Notre revue de littérature, effectuée entre la 2ème et la 3ème année bachelor, porte sur le rôle infirmier concernant l'utilisation des médecines complémentaires dans le but d'améliorer le bien-être chez des enfants souffrant de cancer. Les buts de ce travail sont de déterminer la prévalence de l'utilisation des médecines complémentaires, d'explorer leurs effets positifs ou négatifs sur le bien-être de l'enfant et de trouver des pistes d'interventions infirmières concrètes afin de mettre en lumière les différentes dimensions du rôle infirmier relié à ce thème actuel.Pour répondre à notre problématique, nous nous sommes appuyées sur huit articles de recherche infirmière trouvés sur différentes bases de données. Ces articles s'intéressent tous à l'enfant souffrant de cancer qui fait l'expérience de l'utilisation d'une médecine complémentaire.La discussion qui découle de l'analyse des articles de recherche permet de répondre à notre problématique en mettant en évidence les différents pans du rôle infirmier. L'infirmière doit tout d'abord développer une sensibilité quant aux médecines complémentaires et faire preuve d'une ouverture d'esprit. Un des rôles phare de l'infirmière est la notion de transmission d'informations aux enfants et parents désireux de connaître et d'utiliser une médecine complémentaire. Elle fait également le lien entre les différents médecins et les familles ; elle joue donc un rôle de médiateur. Ces rôles pourront être développés à l'aide d'une formation infirmière qui prendrait en considération l'essor de ces médecines et qui inclurait leur enseignement dans le programme.Pour terminer, nous présentons des perspectives de recherches qu'il serait intéressant de mener afin d'approfondir la thématique de notre travail.

Mitochondrial replacement techniques (MRTs) are designed to prevent the transmission of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) diseases from mother to child. While MRTs, if effective, could satisfy a desire of women seeking to have a genetically related child without the risk of passing on mtDNA disease, the technique raises significant ethical and social issues. It would create offspring who have genetic material from two women, something never sanctioned in humans, and would create mitochondrial changes that could be heritable (in female offspring), and therefore passed on in perpetuity. The manipulation would be performed on eggs or embryos, would affect every cell of the resulting individual, and once carried out this genetic manipulation is not reversible. Mitochondrial Replacement Techniques considers the implications of manipulating mitochondrial content both in children born to women as a result of participating in these studies and in descendants of any female offspring. This study examines the ethical and social issues related to MRTs, outlines principles that would provide a framework and foundation for oversight of MRTs, and develops recommendations to inform the Food and Drug Administration's consideration of investigational new drug applications.
