Applied Photometry, Radiometry, and Measurements of Optical Losses
Author: Michael Bukshtab
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 940072165X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 726
Book Description
Applied Photometry, Radiometry, and Measurements of Optical Losses reviews and analyzes physical concepts of radiation transfer, providing quantitative foundation for the means of measurements of optical losses, which affect propagation and distribution of light waves in various media and in diverse optical systems and components. The comprehensive analysis of advanced methodologies for low-loss detection is outlined in comparison with the classic photometric and radiometric observations, having a broad range of techniques examined and summarized: from interferometric and calorimetric, resonator and polarization, phase-shift and ring-down decay, wavelength and frequency modulation to pulse separation and resonant, acousto-optic and emissive - subsequently compared to direct and balancing methods for studying free-space and polarization optics, fibers and waveguides. The material is focused on applying optical methods and procedures for evaluation of transparent, reflecting, scattering, absorbing, and aggregated objects, and for determination of power and energy parameters of radiation and color properties of light.

Fundamentals and Applications of Colour Engineering
Author: Phil Green
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1119827205
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 405
Book Description
FUNDAMENTALS AND APPLICATIONS OF COLOUR ENGINEERING EXPERT OVERVIEW OF THE WORLD OF COLOUR ENGINEERING IN THE 21ST CENTURY, WITH NEW, UPDATED TECHNOLOGIES AND A MATLAB TOOLBOX Fundamentals and Applications of Colour Engineering provides important coverage on topics that hold the power to extend our knowledge of colour reproduction, such as colour measurement and appearance and the methods used, with additional discussion of the technologies responsible for reproducing colour across a wide range of devices, together with the colour management systems that are used to connect devices and exchange information. Composed of 20 chapters, the Editor and his team of expert contributors consider the new ICC.2 architecture, an approach that introduces an evolutionary step in colour engineering, ensuring wider possibilities for technology. The text also considers the emerging applications for advanced colour management, such as processing spectral data, handling HDR images, and the capture and reproduction of material appearance. The text is supported by a MATLAB toolbox of relevant functions and data. Fundamentals and Applications of Colour Engineering is a useful reference for anyone involved in the reproduction of colour and a strong supplementary course potential for master???s degrees with a colour science component. Fundamentals and Applications of Colour Engineering includes information on: Instruments and methods of colour measurement, colorimetry, and colour difference, and colour appearance Colour spaces and colour encodings, and characterizing input devices, displays and printers Colour gamut communication and imaging standards, high dynamic range imaging, and HDR Sensor adjustment in colour management, open source tools for colour engineering, and colour transform evaluation Supporting active learning with the inclusion of a toolbox of relevant functions and data, Fundamentals and Applications of Colour Engineering is an essential resource for students in relevant programs of study, and for professionals within colour engineering and reproduction looking to maximize their skill set and keep their skills updated.

Color Measurement
Author: David L. MacAdam
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3540386815
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 246
Book Description
Reviews and use of the first edition as the textbook for a senior-division uni versity course indicated the need for a number of corrections and clarifica tions. Although no new topics have been introduced, the new edition should be more clear and useful. A novelty in the Notes and Sources Appendix should facilitate reference from the notes back to the text. Far that purpose, the page number of the text to which each note refers is indicated in square brackets following the serial number of the note. The FMC1 color-difference formula has been substituted everywhere for the Friele-MacAdam formula, including the reference to the sources in Note 52. The FMC1 formula was actually used in the investigations reviewed in Sects. 8.3 and 8.4. The Friele-MacAdam formula given on page 151 of the first edition, which I thought was equivalent to the FMC1, was erroneous and should not be used. The formulas for the geodesic chromaticity diagram, on p. 153 of the first edition, were based on observations by 14 normal observers (last reference in Note 51). They have been replaced by the formulas based on the observations of PON, for consistency with all other formulas and discussions in the book. Figure 8.29 in the first edition was based on the PON data and on the formulas printed below it in the new edition. Therefore, Fig. 8.29 is un changed.
