La investigacion artistica desarrollada en las Universidades durante las ultimas decadas, propicio un abanico de nuevos conocimientos que renovaron los aires de las anacronicas propuestas pedagogicas, y promovieron la praxis del arte contemporaneo. Sin embargo, a pesar de los esfuerzos de los docentes y las instituciones por comprender que el campo artistico amerita una indagacion profunda de sus saberes, hoy, la investigacion artistica continua resultando un desafio en el seno de la comunidad cientifica, pues no ha podido cristalizar su validez en relacion a las areas tradicionales. Los procesos de construccion de nuevos conocimientos se dan de manera tal que en muchas ocasiones no es indispensable exponer aspectos denominados problemas, hipotesis y matrices de datos. Desde estas areas de estudio, el abordaje del arte deberia hacerse desde su corpus especifico que esta en relacion directa con la produccion y los lenguajes artisticos. Este libro, entonces, advierte respecto del peligro que corre el arte cuando se lo priva de reflexiones filosoficas y de saberes intuitivos que le confieren a la obra su verdadero sentido."

Student Writing presents an accessible and thought-provoking study of academic writing practices. Informed by 'composition' research from the US and 'academic literacies studies' from the UK, the book challenges current official discourse on writing as a 'skill'. Lillis argues for an approach which sees student writing as social practice. The book draws extensively on a three-year study with ten non-traditional students in higher education and their experience of academic writing.
