Book Description
Hilbert Functions play major roles in Algebraic Geometry and Commutative Algebra, and are becoming increasingly important also in Computational Algebra. They capture many useful numerical characters associated to a projective variety or to a filtered module over a local ring. Starting from the pioneering work of D.G. Northcott and J. Sally, we aim to gather together in one place many new developments of this theory by using a unifying approach which gives self-contained and easier proofs. The extension of the theory to the case of general filtrations on a module, and its application to the study of certain graded algebras which are not associated to a filtration are two of the main features of the monograph. The material is intended for graduate students and researchers who are interested in Commutative Algebra, in particular in the theory of the Hilbert Functions and related topics.

Book Description
Handbook of Analytic Operator Theory thoroughly covers the subject of holomorphic function spaces and operators acting on them. The spaces covered include Bergman spaces, Hardy spaces, Fock spaces and the Drury-Averson space. Operators discussed in the book include Toeplitz operators, Hankel operators, composition operators, and Cowen-Douglas class operators. The volume consists of eleven articles in the general area of analytic function spaces and operators on them. Each contributor focuses on one particular topic, for example, operator theory on the Drury-Aversson space, and presents the material in the form of a survey paper which contains all the major results in the area and includes all relevant references. The overalp between this volume and existing books in the area is minimal. The material on two-variable weighted shifts by Curto, the Drury-Averson space by Fang and Xia, the Cowen-Douglas class by Misra, and operator theory on the bi-disk by Yang has never appeared in book form before. Features: The editor of the handbook is a widely known and published researcher on this topic The handbook's contributors are a who's=who of top researchers in the area The first contributed volume on these diverse topics

Book Description
This is the first monograph to be published on analytic D-modules and it offers a complete and systematic treatment of the foundations together with a thorough discussion of such modern topics as the Riemann--Hilbert correspondence, Bernstein--Sata polynomials and a large variety of results concerning microdifferential analysis. Analytic D-module theory studies holomorphic differential systems on complex manifolds. It brings new insight and methods into many areas, such as infinite dimensional representations of Lie groups, asymptotic expansions of hypergeometric functions, intersection cohomology on Kahler manifolds and the calculus of residues in several complex variables. The book contains seven chapters and has an extensive appendix which is devoted to the most important tools which are used in D-module theory. This includes an account of sheaf theory in the context of derived categories, a detailed study of filtered non-commutative rings and homological algebra, and the basic material in symplectic geometry and stratifications on complex analytic sets. For graduate students and researchers.

Book Description
Based on lectures delivered by the authors at Moscow State University, this volume presents a detailed introduction to the theory of Hilbert $C*$-modules. Hilbert $C*$-modules provide a natural generalization of Hilbert spaces arising when the field of scalars $\mathbf{C $ is replaced by an arbitrary $C*$-algebra. The general theory of Hilbert $C*$-modules appeared more than 30 years ago in the pioneering papers of W. Paschke and M. Rieffel and has proved to be a powerful tool inoperator algebras theory, index theory of elliptic operators, $K$- and $KK$-theory, and in noncommutative geometry as a whole. Alongside these applications, the theory of Hilbert $C*$-modules is interesting on its own. In this book, the authors explain in detail the basic notions and results of thetheory, and provide a number of important examples. Some results related to the authors' research interests are also included. A large part of the book is devoted to structural results (self-duality, reflexivity) and to nonadjointable operators. Most of the book can be read with only a basic knowledge of functional analysis; however, some experience in the theory of operator algebras makes reading easier.
