Book Description
A trilogy of short stories introduces us to Cody Hamilton. The opening story, Cody’s Colts, features Cody, cool and sporty, and Dwaine, a dweeb with two left feet. Cody is desperate to win the local under 12 football cup, and have his picture in the paper for scoring the most hat-tricks in one season, but he knows the chances are slim with Dwaine in the team. Through a journey of discovery he learns that teamwork and friendship is more important that selfishness and winning. Cody lives with his long-suffering father (who is also the coach of the football team) and his loyal companion Harry the cat. They communicate with Harry as though she (yes, ‘she’) can understand every word they say. The second story in the collection Cody and Harry tells of the hilarious muddles that are had with her namesake and their neighbour, also called Harry. Finally, in Cody Gets Framed, Cody and his friends spend the summer holidays solving the crime of a stolen Roman treasure. Inexplicably the evidence points towards Cody. Will they discover the real culprit in time and why has Cody been framed for the theft?

Book Description
There has been debate in philosophy of biology over the decade since the first edition of this anthology appeared. Changes and additions in the new edition reflect the ways in which the subject has broadened and deepened on several fronts; more than half of the chapters are new. In all, twenty-three selections take up fitness, function and teleology, adaptationism, units of selection, essentialism and population thinking, species, systematic philosophies, phylogenetic inference, reduction of Mendelian genetics to molecular biology, ethics and sociobiology, and cultural evolution and evolutionary epistemology.

Book Description
Sara Paretsky's groundbreaking mystery series about Chicago private investigator V.I. Warshawski debuted in 1982 and is still going strong. She is a co-founder of Sisters in Crime (worldwide organization supporting women writers), a sought-after public speaker and the 2015 president of the Mystery Writers of America. This book is the first comprehensive reference work on Paretsky, providing an overview of the Warshawski novels and short stories, her other novels, a volume of collected essays, her anthologies and journalism. Special attention is paid to the character of Warshawski--the tough, street-smart detective who challenges stereotypical representations of women in crime fiction--and to the significance of the Chicago setting. A guide to the scholarly and critical debates is included, along with discussion of media adaptations and references to key websites.
