Book Description
The agricultural potential of the different magisterial distriescts in the highveld region is described in terms of dryland agronomic and livestock production. The region comprises 48 magisterial districts that are divided into 57 reasonably homogeneous farming with the aid of land-type information. Expected long-term yields for maize, grain sorghum, sunflower, wheat, dry beans, groundnus and potatoes were accoding to an optium crop pattern for reasonably homogeneous farming areas on a magisterial distriet basis with the aid of recognised yield formulas. The production potential was calculated according to the stocking rate for potential for reasonably homogneneous farming areas, on magisterial district basic, in terms of large stock units.

Book Description
Nitrogen Economy in Tropical Soils presents an authoritative and comprehensive state-of-the-art review on soil/plant nitrogen inter-relationships, with special reference to tropical soils and crops in aerobic and anaerobic environments. Use of isotopically labelled nitrogen in experimentation, especially in tropical environments, and recently developed analytical techniques for soil and plant materials are presented. An important aspect is the emphasis placed on the impact of the tropical environment on nitrogen transformations in the soil environment. This book should be an excellent source of information for senior undergraduate and graduate students with interest in soil/plant nitrogen inter-relationships, and for all levels of research workers in these fields.
