Book Description
Of the five senses, vision, without a doubt, is one of the most important. We have only two eyes and they must last a lifetime. And it is because this gift of sight is so precious, that fear of blindness is a universal concern. If it is based on ignorance or misconception, this apprehension is unnecessary. The purpose of this little volume is to fulfill the need for a simple, straightforward, uncomplicated book concerning your eyes. It is the author's hope that this book will help to increase the reader's understanding of the structure, function, and diseases of the eye. The entire text has been expanded upon and updated and a new chapter included by Doctor Mary Cuaycong on Refractive Vision Correction. The author covers general eye anatomy and physiology, light and vision, the conjuctiva, the cornea, cataracts, glaucoma, the uveal tract, the retina, neuro-ophthalmology, strabismus, eye changes associated with general diseases and eye injuries. The book concludes with a glossary and a helpful section of answers to often-asked questions. It will be of interest to eye patients, ophthalmology paraprofessionals and assistants and other interested individuals. Fear resulting from a real eye disease is realistic. It is easier to cope with these fears and with the problem itself if it is understood. Fortunately, in ophthalmology, the understanding of the difficulty can frequently lead to the solution of the problem. Continuing vision can be preserved, and frequently vision lost can be restored. Ongoing dynamic new advances are continuing in the battle against blindness. Understanding is a large part of the battle. That's what this book is all about.

LIFT UP YOUR EYES is a book of daily devotions written by a Christian pastor who over a lifetime of ministry has come to know the hungers and hurts, the hearts and hopes of humanity. It consists of 374 one-page devotions chosen from over two decades of religious columns written for the Saturday editorial page of the Temple Daily Telegram, by the Rev. Clyde E. Nichols, Minister Emeritus of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Temple Texas where he served as senior minister for 23 years from 1963 to 1986. The book contains 365 devotions, one for every day of the year, plus eight for movable holidays (Martin Luther King Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc.). Each of the devotions is matched with a carefully chosen memory verse from the Bible. Using wonderful stories, humor, Scripture and anecdotes, this book speaks to the real life situations we all confront and helps us do a better job of meeting them. Each of the daily devotions is calculated to lift the spirit, focus the mind, and bring a more positive perspective on all we are facing. It is for young and old alike-children, teenagers, adults, senior citizens. Kept on the coffee table or night stand, LIFT UP YOUR EYES can be read daily with one's devotions or picked up, opened anywhere, and read two or three at a time for comfort, challenge, personal growth, self-development and self-esteem. To spend a year with LIFT UP YOUR EYES is to grow in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Book Description
Mary’s life was all mapped out; she knew where she was going and what she was going to do. But all that has changed now—her aunt who had raised her since she was orphaned as a baby had died suddenly of cancer. But Mary hadn’t been born in Australia, and everything she thought she knew about herself was wrong. She was born in Ireland and was now the lady of a grand manor house on a large Irish estate. However, everyone in Ireland believed she had died as a baby and was buried beside her parents in the village cemetery. Something was terribly wrong. Is she the person she has believes she is? Who is the baby buried beside her parents and who is stalking her, watching her every move from the cover of the shrubs and trees, and what is his intent? Mark has also arrived from Australia; he’s tall, dark, and very handsome, and she’s not the only person to fall under his spell. She has a rival for his heart and the perfect body who fits so well into his riding britches. How the girls wish they could ride him as easily as they could ride their own horses. The manor house is now an international five-star motel and function center, and working conditions are better than most places in Ireland, but few, if any, of the locals will work there. Something bad had happened there on the hill the manor had been built on, so few dared enter.

Book Description
Addyson Michaels is the most popular girl in school. She has a head of perfect brown hair, crystal clear skin, and eyes the most alluring shade of amber you've ever seen. No one sees those things, though. Her celebrity status stems from the fact that she's sixteen years old, five feet and six inches tall, and weighs 245 pounds. Anyone looking for someone to tease, degrade, pull pranks on, or humiliate to better their own reputation invariably finds their way to Addy. Everyone knows her by name. Braxton Carmen, Addy's lifelong best friend, just happens to be one of the hottest guys in her school-a point that only serves to make things worse. Brax is very protective of Addy and has very easily adapted to the "big brother" role, though he's only about a month older. Brax is at the center of every positive thing Addy has to hold on to, and over the last few months she's begun to notice a change in her feelings for him. Could it be love? Motivated by her feelings for Braxton and appreciation for his loyalty to her all these years, Addy begins to wonder if he would enjoy the life he'd have if he weren't stuck protecting her from the cruelty of their peers. Perhaps it's time to let him go-even if he doesn't want to.
