En este trabajo se presenta un enfoque novedoso de una herramienta computacional que simplifica el proceso de diseno de armaduras, obteniendo una mejor solucion que satisface todos los requerimientos de la estructura en un tiempo record. Se establece un analisis comparativo con los cuatro casos mas sobresalientes reportados en la literatura reciente, resultando que el algoritmo propuesto es considerablemente mas efectivo. Para demostrar dicha efectividad se presentan soluciones cercanas a optimos globales en dos problemas complejos de optimizacion estructural. La optimizacion estructural esta ligada a un proceso iterativo que debe cumplir con diversos tipos de restricciones. En este trabajo se encontro que muchas investigaciones aplican algoritmos evolutivos, pero pocas de ellas aplican operadores especializados en la optimizacion estructural de armaduras. Aqui se aplico un analisis de sensibilidad sobre las modificaciones en los operadores de un algoritmo genetico para medir su desempeno durante la corrida. Con ello se identificaron las modificaciones necesarias en las operaciones y en la codificacion que tendrian el potencial de mejorar la solucion."

El objetivo de este trabajo es encontrar la configuracion optima para un problema estructural dado en un dominio espacial continuo. Por configuracion optima entendemos, reducir al minimo el volumen de material empleado y maximizar la rigidez de la estructura ante las combinaciones de cargas supuestas por el disenador. Se propusieron dos problemas, encontrar la armadura de un puente y la armadura de un invernadero. El procedimiento empleado para el diseno elastico es el propuesto por el American Institute of Steel Construction. En ambos problemas se busca la optimizacion de la topologia, la geometria y las dimensiones de la armadura, en la misma corrida. Para poder combinar estos tres tipos de optimizacion se emplearon Algoritmos Geneticos (AG).Esta tecnica se desprende de la llamada computacion evolutiva, de la cual surgen las estrategias evolutivas, la programacion genetica, la coevolucion y los algoritmos geneticos; todas ellas se basan en el principio evolutivo de Darwin, la supervivencia del mas apto. Se encuentran soluciones practicas y con mejoras en sus caracteristicas estructurales."
