Book Description
Scientific Study from the year 2019 in the subject Economics - Finance, grade: 10, , language: English, abstract: The purpose of this study is to give a clear picture of the development of Albania's foreign trade in a long time from the 16th century to the present day. It will also address the features of each period and the most important trade agreements. Given the favorable geographic position Albania has had trade relations with a large number of states but these relations have greatly influenced the policies pursued by our country over the years. Albania's foreign trade liberalization was not an immediate process and act. This process initially started with breaking the state monopoly on foreign trade, which was initiated by the privatization and overall liberalization of the economy, initially from the legal point of view to that of the laws adopted by the democratic parliament, and then gradually being implemented by the side of executive power. The causes that make international trade cooperation necessary are related to: uneven distribution of production factors, changes in taste and consumption, economies of scale, absolute and realistic output advantages, climate factors, economic and geographical proximity, international transfer technology, international labor migration, and so on. States that transformed their power from communism to democracy faced such economic problems that are solved during the economic transition period. One of them is Albania, which still seems to have been hostage to the transition process. Another important point of this topic will be the relations between Albania and Kosovo. How did they walk? How would a customs union affect the development between the two countries? Has the development of the nation's path awaited the development of trade relations? How is the level of exports and imports between them? These will be some of the points that will be answered in this study.

Book Description
This edited book analyzes Kosovo’s foreign policy and bilateral relations with the United States and several European countries. After the 1999 liberation from Serbia, Kosovo built close relations with various countries that supported it in the process of reconstruction, economic stabilization, institution-building, and state-building. From 1999 to 2008, many of these states were politically and operationally engaged in Kosovo under the leadership of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK). Since its independence in 2008, the Republic of Kosovo has adopted a foreign policy in accordance with its values and strategic interests, a foreign policy that aims to strengthen Kosovo’s security and foster its socio-economic prosperity in collaboration with primarily Western countries. In this volume, each chapter is dedicated to Kosovo’s bilateral relations with a selected state with which it has established diplomatic relations. The book shows that Kosovo has been able to develop and achieve strong bilateral relations with major allies and partners. It argues that Kosovo’s foreign policy aims to develop, maintain, and enhance the position of the young state on the international stage. The volume bridges various methodological and disciplinary approaches in order to present Kosovo’s foreign policy objectives and the trajectory of its relations with some of its most important international partners. This book will be of interest to students of Balkan politics, state-building, foreign policy, and International Relations.

Book Description
The dissolution of communism and the rise of ethnic and religious conflict throughout the former Yugoslavia, which sparked the war among Bosnians, Serbs, and Croats, has captivated the attention of the Western media throughout the 1990s. But little notice has been paid to the growing ethnic and religious tensions within the Serbian province of Kosovo -- tensions that now pose a serious threat to the security of the Balkans. Nearly 90 percent of the population of Kosovo is composed of Albanian Muslims, many of whom support a growing movement -- at first peaceful, but now turning violent -- for independence from Christian Serbia. In Between Serb and Albanian, Miranda Vickers explores the roots of this conflict and tracks the recent trajectory of Serbian and Albanian relations in Kosovo. The first third of the book outlines the history of Kosovo during the medieval and Ottoman periods, when relations between the two communities were generally good. The second part examines Kosovo since 1945, when the area fell under Serbian administration in the socialist Yugoslav system. Vickers concludes by surveying the steady deterioration in Serb-Albanian relations since the disintegration of Yugoslavia in 1981. With careful detail, she reveals how a largely peaceful. politically driven campaign for the independence of Kosovo has recently turned to violence with terrorist attacks on Serb political and military institutions, on Albanians thought to be collaborating with the Serbs, and on Serbs themselves. In the process, the author provides a balanced account of the Serb and Albanian positions, while placing much of the blame for the current situation on the repressive policies of Serb dictatorSlobodan Milosevic. Vickers sees ominous portents that the conflict may soon spread to neighboring Balkan countries. This book is essential reading for all those wishing to understand the historical, social, and cultural aspects of ethnic and religious strife in Serbia, and the implications of this conflict for the current political situation in all of southeast Europe.

Book Description
The war in Kosovo was a turning point: NATO deployed its armed forces in war for the first time, and placed the controversial doctrine of 'humanitarian intervention' squarely in the world's eye. It was an armed intervention for the purpose of implementing Security Council resolutions-but without Security Council authorization. This report tries to answer a number of burning questions, such as why the international community was unable to act earlier and prevent the escalation of the conflict, as well as focusing on the capacity of the United Nations to act as global peacekeeper. The Commission recommends a new status for Kosovo, 'conditional independence', with the goal of lasting peace and security for Kosovo-and for the Balkan region in general. But many of the conslusions may be beneficially applied to conflicts the world-over.

Book Description
'The Area Handbook for Albania' seeks to present an overview of the various social, political, and economic aspects of the country as they appeared in 1970. The leaders of the Communist Party have gone to extremes to maintain an aura of secrecy about their nation and their efforts to govern it. Material on Albania is scanty and some that is available is not reliable but, using their own judgments on sources, the authors have striven for objectivity in this effort to depict Albanian society in 1970.

Book Description
The current geopolitical changes taking place in the world economy exert great influence on the EU (and Slovakia’s) foreign trade relations. This monograph examines the impact of geopolitical changes on the EU foreign trade relations with the countries of the Western Balkans, Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan, assesses the impact of the mutual EU and Russia sanctions on the EU foreign trade with the countries selected, and points out the potential for development of Slovakia’s foreign trade relations with these countries. The uniqueness of this monograph lies in the primacy and complexity of the EU foreign trade relations with the countries under consideration and the impact of the mutual EU and Russia sanctions on the EU and Slovakia’s foreign trade with Russia. The outcomes of the conducted research can be of great use to business and government institutions, as well as to European institutions and organizations, teachers, scientists or R&D agencies and others.
