The Index originated with 23 titles as a quarterly publication in 1949 and has continued on a quarterly basis superseded by annual and triennial cumulative issues. Staff members in the Reader Services Division of Air University Library index the periodicals with the exception of 10 titles which other Air Force, Army, and Navy libraries contribute. The Air University Periodical Index serves primarily the educational and research programs of Air University. The Index is available to other libraries on exchange basis. This publication has been reviewed 'and approved by competent personnel of the preparing command in accordance with current directives on doctrine, policy, essentiality, propriety, and quality.
