It is about Johnny and me "Nonna" which is Italian for Grandmother. It is about some of the fun places we go and things we do. He fills my world with so much Joy and Love, just like Daddy does...My Son. Both of them are my very best friends. I am Blessed beyond measure. I named it The Adventures of Johnny & Nonna with the idea to keep it going and do a series of more books to come.

Book Description
This book focuses on the transmission of ethnic identity across three generations of Italian-Australians, specifically Italian-Australians of Calabrian descent in the Adelaide region of Australia. Simone Marino analyzes ethnographic data collected over a three-year period to consider individual, familial and community cultural practices, as well as societal influences on ethnic identity transmission, in order to present generational differences in the understandings of Italian-Australian identity. Among other factors, the role of community events, community networks, and cultural practices associated with being Italian-Australian are examined. The transmission of ethnic identity is analysed through the lens of sociological theories, including Sayad's concept of double absence and Bourdieu's ideas of habitus and cultural capital, and is considered at the macro, meso, and micro spheres of social life. Ultimately, Marino’s study reveals clear generational differences amongst Italian-Australians: the first generation, those who arrived from Italy, manifest a condition of feeling absent, the second generation present a condition of ‘in-between-ness’, between the world of their immigrant parents and that of Australians, and the third generation experience a sense of ethnic revival.

Book Description
In 'The Decameron: The Original English Translation by John Florio,' Giovanni Boccaccio presents a collection of one hundred novellas told by ten young people who have fled Florence to escape the Black Death. The tales cover a wide range of themes, including love, wit, tragedy, and clever deception, making it a rich tapestry of human experiences. Boccaccio's prose is marked by its vivid imagery, social commentary, and sophisticated storytelling, reflecting the humanistic values of his time. The Decameron is a landmark work in Italian literature, considered one of the earliest examples of realistic prose fiction. John Florio's translation captures the essence of Boccaccio's original work, preserving its subtle nuances and literary quality. Florio's skillful rendering makes this classic accessible to English-speaking readers, maintaining the beauty and charm of the original Italian text. Giovanni Boccaccio, a Renaissance humanist and poet, drew on his own experiences and observations of society to craft these timeless tales. His adept storytelling and keen insight into human nature continue to resonate with readers centuries later. I highly recommend 'The Decameron' to anyone interested in exploring the complexities of human behavior, love, and resilience in the face of adversity. Boccaccio's masterpiece is a captivating read that offers valuable insights into the human condition and the enduring power of storytelling.

Book Description
This is a story of one branch of the Pepe family in America. Starting with its roots in Italy, the narrative tracks the family from 1800, through the years if the Risorgimento, to the hilltop village in Ferrandina in Southern Italy, then to Little Italy in New York, and finally, to the (then) bucolic suburban area of Gravesend in Brooklyn. Along the way the family intersects with a number of historical figures and events, including Guglielmo Pepe, the George Washington of Italy, Maria Barbella, the first woman ever to be sentenced to the electric chair, Calhoun Washington, who was born a slave, Heavyweight Champion Bob Fitzsimmons, General George Armstrong Custer, John Philip Sousa, General Pershing and Pancho Villa. The story is told in three parts. Part one details the history of Michele Pepe and his family, from Ferrandina to America, with stops in Little Italy and the Gravesend section of Brooklyn. Part two tells the true history of the family, from 1800 to the present. Part Three is a memoir of Old Gravesend in the late thirties and early forties, a remembrance of the time, the place and the people.

The girls are inseparable until Nona moves away at the age of nine. By the time she returns, they’re in Year 10 and things have changed. Rosie prefers to hang out in the nearby mining town, where she goes to school with the glamorous Selena and her gorgeous older brother, Nick. When a political announcement highlights divisions between the Aboriginal community and the mining town, Rosie is put in a difficult position: will she have to choose between her first love and her oldest friend? Winner, Book of the Year: 2016 NT Literary Awards Highly commended, Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards for Writing for Young Adults Longlisted, 2015 Inky Awards Honour Book, 2015 Children’s Book Council of Australia, Book of the Year for Older Reader Shortlisted, 2016 Territory Read Award ‘A powerful coming-of-age story ... Atkins writes with clear-eyed sensitivity, and although I longed to hear Nona’s voice, its absence is deliberate and effective. Nona & Me is poignant young-adult fiction invoking the complex and often overlooked realities of remote indigenous life.’ —Sydney Morning Herald ‘[Clare Atkins] wrestles with some of this country's most hotly debated political issues with a rare lightness of touch. [Nona & Me is] a convincing portrait of a naive but feverish first love, friendships waxing and waning, and the clash between fitting in and sticking to your values. Above all, there's a warmth and optimism that's hard to resist.’ —Sunday Age ‘This [is a] powerful, beautifully contoured story of cross-cultural friendship.’ —The Weekend Australian
