Book Description
This book reports on the results of a four-year collaborative project between the German Aerospace Center (DLR), three German universities and the aircraft industry. The project was funded by the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. In the book, different subprojects are presented, with their corresponding case studies. Readers will find extensive information on simulation strategies required for virtual flight testing, and verification and validation aspects. All in all, this book offers a timely update on the state-of-the-art in flow simulation techniques, flight mechanics methods, integrated multidisciplinary simulation, reduced-order models, and on the development of processes for automated generation of aerodynamic databases. It addresses both researchers and professionals in the field of aviation engineering.

Book Description
The four volumes of the "Virtual Airplane" series will teach you how to create the model shown on the cover. This guide assumes that you may know nothing about the 3D modeling software, so it starts the course from the very basics. In subsequent chapters the author builds a computer model of the P-40B fighter, gradually introducing new methods and tools. Every step of this workflow is shown in numerous illustrations. This second volume ("Modeling") describes how to build an accurate 3D model of a historical aircraft. You can learn here how to use for this purpose a popular, Open Source program: Blender. It starts with a general introduction to this environment. This guide introduces various modeling techniques, while recreating subsequent parts of the P-40 airframe.

Book Description
Since the first works on Higher Education Administration in the 1970s no comprehensive work in terms of purpose and scope of Higher Education has been published. There have been important changes in people’s aspirations vis-à-vis higher education globally. In parallel, the higher education systems, worldwide, have been undergoing constant transformation in response to these aspirations. From governments, employers and prospective students and their parents, the stakeholders in higher education system are now extremely varied paying close attention to the various aspects of higher education - from infrastructure, on-campus safety and security to administration, faculty and curricula. The present series attempts to take into account the issues of importance to all the stakeholders. Hence the series not only pays attention to the purpose and outcomes of higher education but also the economics surrounding higher education vis a vis marketization. The nitty gritty of running and maintaining a university infrastructure, impact of globalization and internationalization on delivery and demand of higher education, the commoditization of research, and changing paradigms of teaching and learning fall within the purview of the series. The increasing competition from other entities to provide degrees, certificates or other forms of credentials makes it important to have a work that brings all of the elements together to see how they actually interact and inter-relate from a systems perspective. The present series attempts to comprehensively attend to these issues and provide a complete reference resource to all those involved and interested in setting up of a Higher Education institution and its administration.

Book Description
This two-volume set LNCS 13317 and 13318 constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality, VAMR 2022, held virtually as part of the 24rd HCI International Conference, HCII 2022, in June/July 2022.The total of 1276 papers and 241 posters included in the 39 HCII 2021 proceedings volumes was carefully reviewed and selected from 5222 submissions. The 56 papers included in this 2-volume set were organized in topical sections as follows: Developing VAMR Environments; Evaluating VAMR environments; Gesture-based, haptic and multimodal interaction in VAMR; Social, emotional, psychological and persuasive aspects in VAMR; VAMR in learning, education and culture; VAMR in aviation; Industrial applications of VAMR. The first volume focuses on topics related to developing and evaluating VAMR environments, gesture-based, haptic and multimodal interaction in VAMR, as well as social, emotional, psychological and persuasive aspects in VAMR, while the second focusses on topics related to VAMR in learning, education and culture, VAMR in aviation, and industrial applications of VAMR.

Book Description
This book contains an edited versIOn of lectures presented at the NATO ADVANCED STUDY INSTITUTE on VIRTUAL NONLINEAR MUL TIBODY SYSTEMS which was held in Prague, Czech Republic, from 23 June to 3 July 2002. It was organized by the Department of Mechanics, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague, in cooperation with the Institute B of Mechanics, University of Stuttgart, Germany. The ADVANCED STUDY INSTITUTE addressed the state of the art in multibody dynamics placing special emphasis on nonlinear systems, virtual reality, and control design as required in mechatronics and its corresponding applications. Eighty-six participants from twenty-two countries representing academia, industry, government and research institutions attended the meeting. The high qualification of the participants contributed greatly to the success of the ADVANCED STUDY INSTITUTE in that it promoted the exchange of experience between leading scientists and young scholars, and encouraged discussions to generate new ideas and to define directions of research and future developments. The full program of the ADVANCED STUDY INSTITUTE included also contributed presentations made by participants where different topics were explored, among them: Such topics include: nonholonomic systems; flexible multibody systems; contact, impact and collision; numerical methods of differential-algebraical equations; simulation approaches; virtual modelling; mechatronic design; control; biomechanics; space structures and vehicle dynamics. These presentations have been reviewed and a selection will be published in this volume, and in special issues of the journals Multibody System Dynamics and Mechanics of Structures and Machines.

Book Description
Models and simulations of all kinds are tools for dealing with reality. Humans have always used mental models to better understand the world around them: to make plans, to consider different possibilities, to share ideas with others, to test changes, and to determine whether or not the development of an idea is feasible. The book Modeling and Simulation uses exactly the same approach except that the traditional mental model is translated into a computer model, and the simulations of alternative outcomes under varying conditions are programmed on the computer. The advantage of this method is that the computer can track the multitude of implications and consequences in complex relationships much more quickly and reliably than the human mind. This unique interdisciplinary text not only provides a self contained and complete guide to the methods and mathematical background of modeling and simulation software (SIMPAS) and a collection of 50 systems models on an accompanying diskette. Students from fields as diverse as ecology and economics will find this clear interactive package an instructive and engaging guide.
