Book Description
This book is the third and final volume in a series entitled "The Modula-2 Software Component Library." C. Lins' collection of reusable standard software components could be the basis for every programmer's software project in Modula-2. Components that are implementations of commonly used data structures are presented, along with a description of their functionality and efficiency. Moreover, the books provide the background necessary to tailor these components to the specific needs of any Modula-2 environment. For Modula-2 programmers, this series of books could prove as useful and indispensible as the original language reference by Niklaus Wirth. This third volume discusses the concepts of trees and graphs, shows their specifications, and provides implementations for various forms of trees and graphs.

Book Description
The book provides a clear understanding of what software reuse is, where the problems are, what benefits to expect, the activities, and its different forms. The reader is also given an overview of what sofware components are, different kinds of components and compositions, a taxonomy thereof, and examples of successful component reuse. An introduction to software engineering and software process models is also provided.

Book Description
This is the proceedings of the Sixth Symposium on Empirical Foundations of Information and Software Sciences (EFISS), which was held in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 19-21, 1988. The purpose of the symposia is to explore subjects and methods of scientific inquiry which are of common interest to information and software sciences, and to identify directions of research that would benefit from the mutual interaction of these two disciplines. The main theme of the sixth symposium was modeling in information and software engineering, with emphasis on methods and tools of modeling. The symposium covered topics such as models of individual and organizational users of information systems, methods of selecting appropriate types of models for a given type of users and a given type of tasks, deriving models from records of system usage, modeling system evolution, constructing user and task models for adaptive systems, and models of system architectures. This symposium was sponsored by the School of Information and Computer Science of the Georgia Institute of Technology and by the U.S. Army Institute for Research in Management Information, Communications, and Computer Sciences (AIRMICS). 17le Editors vii CONTENTS 1 I. Book Description
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 11th International ACM SIGSOFT Symposium on Component-Based Software Engineering, CBSE 2008, held in Karlsruhe, Germany in October 2008. The 20 revised full papers and 3 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 70 submissions. The papers feature new trends in global software services and distributed systems architectures to push the limits of established and tested component-based methods, tools and platforms. The papers are organized in topical sections on performance engineering; extra-functional properties: security and energy; formal methods and model checking; verification techniques; run-time infrastructures; methods of design and development; component models.

Book Description
Observers in the present usually have an advantage when it comes to interpreting events of the past. In the case of software reuse, how ever, it is unclear why an idea that has gained such universal accep tance was the source of swirling controversy when it began to be taken seriously by the software engineering community in the mid-1980's. From a purely conceptual point of view, the reuse of software de signs and components promises nearly risk-free benefits to the devel oper. Virtually every model of software cost and development effort predicts first-order dependencies on either products size or the num ber of steps carried out in development. Reduce the amount of new product to be developed and the cost of producing the product de creases. Remove development steps, and total effort is reduced. By reusing previously developed engineering products the amount of new product and the number of development steps can be reduced. In this way, reuse clearly has a major influence on reducing total development cost and effort. This, of course, raises the issue of from whence the reused products arise. There has to be a prior investment in creating "libraries of reuse products before reuse can be successfuL . . " How can organizations with a "bottom line" orientation be enticed into contributing to a reuse venture? Fortunately, the economics of reuse l resembles many other financial investment situations .
