Book Description
He was the next Alpha, and she was a refugee who sought refuge in the wrong pack. Samantha was fated to Alex (the son of the Alpha and future Alpha of his pack). She was mistaken to be the daughter of a rogue when she went to seek refuge in the Yellow moon pack. They accepted her but she had to work as a servant in the pack to earn her keep. Alex later discovered she was his fated mate and did not reject her at first, in fact, he accepted the moon goddess's match. They had mated but he never marked her to complete the bond. On her 21st birthday, he proposed and all was going well until tragedy befell the pack and he was forced to mate and mark Hilda (the daughter of his father's beta) for protection and the survival of the pack. The fact that Samantha was presumed to be the daughter of a rogue and a servant did not help her chances either. He finally rejects her and gets together with Hilda, whom the pack believes will bear stronger untainted Alpha wolves.

Book Description
A Narrative of the Adventures and Sufferings of John R. Jewitt is a classic of its kind. In 1802, when he was nineteen, Jewitt signed on the brigantine Boston, which set sail from England for the Pacific Northwest Coast of North America. At Nootka Sound on Vancouver Island, the ship stopped to trade furs with the native people. Days later, the powerful chief Maquinna and his warriors massacred the ship's entire crew--except for Jewitt and John Thompson. Held captive as a slave for two years, young Jewitt experienced adventure and hardship as he learned the language, took part in many facets of native life and even married against his will. Throughout it all, he kept a forbidden journal recording his activities and observations. Hilary Stewart enriches this reprint of Jewitt's narrative with background information on the history of the coast and a chapter on the remainder of his colourful life.

Book Description
Published in two volumes, the purpose of Jersey Folklore & Superstitions is three-fold: To bring all the previously published and any non-published material on Jersey folktales and superstitions together in one publication, to expand on the detail of this material and to place it in context by comparing it with similar or more complete traditions from the Gulf of St. Malo as a whole (Guernsey, Normandy and Brittany) and to consider its functions and origins. To this end they are further compared with traditions from Europe generally, with some examples from further afield and with mythologies worldwide. For Jersey readers this work will give an overview of their oral tradition, its significance and how it relates to the body of such traditions within Europe as a whole. For general readers the use of the Island’s traditions as a template for those elsewhere, the process of comparison with those from other regions and the attempt to outline the broad range of sources from which they are drawn, may give an insight into particular areas of folk tradition generally, such as fairy-lore, indigenous sorcery (witchcraft), domestic superstitions and the roles and origins of spectral animals and other beings. For this purpose, most chapters are broadly divided into four main sections. The Jersey material is presented first, followed by that from Guernsey, Normandy and Brittany, followed by an analysis using examples from further afield and from mythology. Each chapter concludes with a review and summary of this material. Liberal quotations of related ‘ditons’ or sayings in Jèrriais (the Jersey Language) are included with each chapter. The author has four previous publications; Jersey Superstitions in Etching & Poetry (hardcover 1981), An Introduction to Channel Islands’ Pewter (softcover 1993), Jersey Maritime Folklore (M/S format, 1996) and Sunbonnets in the Channel Islands & worldwide (CD-R 2005).

Book Description
Over the past three decades, Ralph T. Coe has traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada to assemble this collection of Native American art, one of the finest in private hands today. Immersed in the cultures of Native America, he has come to know artists and artisans, traders, dealers, and shop proprietors, selecting the very best they have to offer. The Ralph T. Coe Collection includes representative pieces from most Native American geographic regions and historical periods, beginning with objects dating back to the fourth millennium B.C. Many examples-men's shirts with ermine fringe, weapons, and button blankets-evoke the heroic lifestyle of the past, while small objects, such as tipi and kayak models, dolls, and tiny moccasins, speak to a more intimate significance. Ritual objects imbued with spiritual meaning-masks and katsinas, tablitas and medicine bundles-as well as utilitarian objects, such as pottery and baskets, also have a strong presence. This catalogue tells the stories of nearly two hundred of these objects, combining art history with personal reminiscence, and reveals the role Coe has played in bringing about awareness of the artistic heritage of Native America.-- Metropolitan Museum of Art website.
