Most of these cases are affirmatory of the positions taken in the text, and are noted as such but many of them present new distinctions which it has been necessary to introduce in detail. The task has been labo rions; but it has not been without interest. The vast increase of reported cases, while adding to the value of treatises in which these cases are cited and classified, is preparing the way for the adoption of a general national system of criminal law in which local peculiarities will be gradually absorbed.
