The Status of Pre-college Piano Teaching in China
Author: Xiaojun Guo (Graduate student)
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 25
Book Description
Piano teaching in China does not have a long history when compared to the Western countries in Europe and the United States. However, piano study has increased dramatically since the Reform and Opening Policy began in 1978. Chinese piano teachers have been slow to adopt new teaching methods and techniques. Through a review of literature and an examination of teaching methods and materials, this study explores the status of pre-college piano teaching in China. A short history of piano teaching serves as background for the study. Based on the research and my piano study experience in the United States, a final chapter presents some observations and suggestions for improving piano study in China in the coming years.
