Book Description
For almost two decades, Sidney Coleman has been giving review lectures on frontier topics in theoretical high-energy physics at the International School of Subnuclear Physics held each year at Erice, Sicily. This volume is a collection of some of the best of these lectures. To this day they have few rivals for clarity of exposition and depth of insight. Although very popular when first published, many of the lectures have been difficult to obtain recently. Graduate students and professionals in high-energy physics will welcome this collection by a master of the field.

Book Description
This book is aligned with the Common Core State Standards for fourth-grade mathematics in geometry: (4.G.3).Once you start looking, you can find symmetry all around you. Symmetry is when one shape looks the same if you flip, slide, or turn it. It's in words and even letters. It's in both nature and man-made things. In fact, art, design, decoration, and architecture are full of it. This clear and concise book explains different types of symmetry and shows you how to make your own symmetrical masterpieces. Notes and glossary are included.

Book Description
A classy rendering of chaos theory and symmetry mathematics illustrating recent understanding about the convergence between the two areas. Mathematicians Field and Golubitsky explain the relationship between chaos and symmetry, describing how chaotic process may eventually lead to symmetric patterns in a clear, understandable language and in color photographs reproducing computer images demonstrating the inherent pattern in apparent chaos. The authors compare these images with pictures from nature and art that, miraculously, mimic the computer patterns. Includes an appendix containing several BASIC programs enabling home computer owners to experiment with similar images. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Book Description
It is gratifying to launch the third edition of our book. Its coming to life testi?es about the task it has ful?lled in the service of the com- nity of chemical research and learning. As we noted in the Prefaces to the ?rst and second editions, our book surveys chemistry from the point of view of symmetry. We present many examples from ch- istry as well as from other ?elds to emphasize the unifying nature of the symmetry concept. Our aim has been to provide aesthetic pl- sure in addition to learning experience. In our ?rst Preface we paid tribute to two books in particular from which we learned a great deal; they have in?uenced signi?cantly our approach to the subject matter of our book. They are Weyl’s classic, Symmetry, and Shubnikov and Koptsik’s Symmetry in Science and Art. The structure of our book has not changed. Following the Int- duction (Chapter 1), Chapter 2 presents the simplest symmetries using chemical and non-chemical examples. Molecular geometry is discussed in Chapter 3. The next four chapters present gro- theoretical methods (Chapter 4) and, based on them, discussions of molecular vibrations (Chapter 5), electronic structures (Chapter 6), and chemical reactions (Chapter 7). For the last two chapters we return to a qualitative treatment and introduce space-group sym- tries (Chapter 8), concluding with crystal structures (Chapter 9). For the third edition we have further revised and streamlined our text and renewed the illustrative material.

Book Description
Quanto-Geometric Theory is a new modern-physics theoretical model aimed at the interpretation of physical matter beyond Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity. In a surprising turn, it affords a natural and simple path to the long-sought effective unification of Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity. In doing so, the Theory stunningly derives the fundamental Quantum parameters and gravity from one single mathematical formalism. Furthermore Quanto-Geometry stands for the first and only Theory able to deliver on a long-time elusive goal of modern physics: the computation from first principles of the host of known fundamental physical physical constants, both dimension-less and dimensional. By eliciting the conceptual and philosophical implications of the mathematics governing the hierarchy of universal physical constants, Quanto-Geometric Theory proposes a novel vision and true insight into the essential structure of matter and organization of life. Its impact therefore promises to outgrow the world of academic physics to positively alter human consciousness and, consequently, our relationship with our living medium otherwise called matter. This book addresses academicians as well as the avid amateur physicists who will all find refreshing enjoyment in witnessing the unraveling of a handful of physics conundrums of all time in a clear, simple but effective and unequivocal manner. In the tradition of non-speculative, effective and falsifiable physics!

Book Description
We have been gratified by the warm reception of our book, by reviewers, colleagues, and students alike. Our interest in the subject matter of this book has not decreased since its first appearance; on the contrary. The first and second editions envelop eight other symmetry-related books in the creation of which we have participated: I. Hargittai (ed.), Symmetry: Unifying Human Understanding, Pergamon Press, New York, 1986. I. Hargittai and B. K. Vainshtein (eds.), Crystal Symmetries. Shubnikov Centennial Papers, Pergamon Press, Oxford, 1988. M. Hargittai and I. Hargittai, Fedezziikf6l a szimmetri6t! (Discover Sym- try, in Hungarian), Tank6nyvkiad6, Budapest, 1989. I. Hargittai (ed.), Symmetry 2: Unifying Human Understanding, Pergamon Press, Oxford, 1989. I. Hargittai (ed.), Quasicrystals, Networks, and Molecules of Fivefold Sym- try, VCH, New York, 1990. I. Hargittai (ed.), Fivefold Symmetry, World Scientific, Singapore, 1992. I. Hargittai and C. A. Pickover (eds.), Spiral Symmetry, World Scientific, Singapore, 1992. I. Hargittai and M. Hargittai, Symmetry: A Unifying Concept, Shelter Publi- tions, Bolinas, California, 1994. We have also pursued our molecular structure research, and some books have appeared related to these activities: vi Preface to the Second Edition I. Hargittai and M. Hargittai (eds.), Stereochemical Applications of Gas-Phase Electron Diffraction, Parts A and B, VCH, New York, 1988. R. Gillespie and I. Hargittai, VSEPR Model of Molecular Geometry, Allyn and Bacon, Boston, 1991. A. Domenicano and I. Hargittai (eds.), Accurate Molecular Structures, Oxford University Press, Oxford, 1992.
