Book Description
I was born in Naples where I lived until the age of 30. Then, I moved to Liguria region back in the Eighties to find a job. I am married to Maria. We share several passions, the first of which is the one for our four children. We conceive of them as unique creatures and our joy is unspeakable. I am retired and I started my adventure as a writer, mainly as a poet, only two years ago. It did not come unexpected, since I felt like a need to rely on something endless and eternal as only poetry can be. Like other forms of communication, poetry seeks to take out the best of each author and of his best qualities: frankness, loyalty, unaffectedness, freedom of thought. All such qualities are fundamental sources of growth both as a person and as a writer. My driving force is humility, which I take with me in all I witness to as a writer. I am very proud of having being selected among the best authors in a wide array of literary contests. It is not only a great pleasure, but also a spur to continue and to improve myself.

Literature and Identity in Italian Baroque Travel Writing
Author: Nathalie Hester
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1351922033
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 245
Book Description
This first full-length study in English on seventeenth-century Italian travel writing enriches our understanding of an unusually fertile period for Italian contributions to the genre. The intrinsic qualities of this literature can now be grasped in terms of the larger question of cultural identity in Italy. For Hester, the specifically literary characteristics of Italian travel writing”including its humanism or Petrarchism”highlight the classic eminence throughout Europe of a prestigious tradition inherent to Italy, one compensating then for the peninsula's lack of a national political identity. Appeals to the cultural authority of that tradition represent a means of addressing and overcoming anxieties about the Italian subject's diasporic status during the "Golden Age" of European global colonial expansion. Self-funded travelers Francesco Carletti, Pietro Della Valle, Francesco Belli, Francesco Negri, and Giovanni Francesco Gemelli Careri are the major authors studied who journeyed through Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and America.

Book Description
He is relentlessly defiant. He is exceedingly libidinous. His appetite for the outrageous is insatiable. He is Mickey Sabbath, the aging, raging powerhouse whose savage effrontery and mocking audacity are at the heart of Philip Roth's astonishing new novel. Sabbath's Theater tells Mickey's story in the wake of the death of his mistress, an erotic free spirit whose adulterous daring exceeds even his own. Once a scandalously inventive puppeteer, Mickey is now in his mid-sixties and besieged by ghosts - of his mother, his beloved brother, his vanished first wife, his mistress of thirteen years. Bereft and grieving, he embarks on a turbulent journey back into his past, one that brings him to the brink of madness and extinction. But no matter how ardently he courts death, he is too exuberantly alive to succeed at dying. Sabbath's Theater is a comic creation of epic proportions, and Mickey Sabbath is its gargantuan hero. This book, which presents Philip Roth at the peak of his powers, is sur
