Book Description
Tormented by those who should have protected her, Olivia has one chance at an actual life, and she just has to give herself with no reservations. Born to blossom into an omega, something in Olivia’s life went wrong. Instead of having her heats and looking for her own alphas, she is defective. Her body gives her pain, and she wants nothing to do with the thought of a sexual liaison with anyone. Her sister follows her father’s footsteps and keeps her on their property and running the bed and breakfast, which is a boring existence for Olivia until her heat is due and her rule against taking reservations during that time is broken by her greedy sibling. There is an emergency, and they are going to be hosting a guest. No one said the guest would be an alpha. What follows is a meeting, a realization, and a rescue that changes not only Olivia’s life, but that of her pride as well. Argus is just going to a family wedding rehearsal when he begins hearing the phrase defective omega. He has researched a lot of omegas, and there is no such thing as a defective one. When he realizes that these words are describing the dainty little woman who helped his panthers get settled, he has a quick discussion with his pridemates, and they head off to rescue the omega in question. With any luck, she will choose them. If not, they will have to charm her. Either way, Olivia is theirs.

Book Description
Winner of a third-place award in the church professional category from the Catholic Media Association. Do you behave on social media as the Christian you want to be? Are you dismayed at the often divisive and cruel exchanges you read online? In #Rules_of_Engagement, Ann M. Garrido shares eight practical habits that will help you align your activity in the digital world with the call of the Gospel to be Christ's presence in the world. Popes Benedict and Francis have called upon Christians across the globe to embrace the internet as a new “digital continent” and think of it as mission territory, a place where we can—with careful thought and discipline—accomplish enormous good. Even as we strive to be faithful to our Christian values, many of us still show up on social media and behave in ways unbecoming a follower of Jesus Christ. Rather than practicing compassion, truth, honesty, and communion online, we sometimes are mean-spirited, inflammatory, and untruthful. Garrido tackles the problem head-on by providing practical tools, theological guidance, and spiritual inspiration for being the person God wants you to be online. Garrido offers eight practices, rooted in Catholic tradition and teaching, that will help you avoid doing harm, and instead equip you to be a force for good through your social media presence and activities: clarify your purpose know your sources understand bias value the person lead with curiosity talk about intent and impact privilege face-to-face encounter manage your energy The book includes simple exercises to help you assess your social media behaviors and integrate Garrido's suggestions into your online communications as well as the opportunity to join a community of concerned Christians striving to live these habits.

Book Description
Despite landmark investments in employee engagement over the past decade and significant economic recovery, even the "best places to work" don't have anything approaching 100% engagement. Why? Because engagement efforts to date have been focused on only half of the individual: who they are as employees. Engagement is dependent on a variety of factors that we can't leave behind when we leave home: our health and wellbeing and that of our children, partners, and elders; our personal values; our intrinsic motivators. These deeply personal factors, as well as fixed traits about us, affect engagement at least as much as work-only factors such as salary and benefits. In this timely and thought-provoking volume, author and engagement expert Bob Kelleher invites individuals and managers alike to expand the conversation about what it means to be truly engaged... as a whole person.

Book Description
In our current social landscape, moral questions—about economic disparity, disadvantaging biases, and scarcity—are rightly receiving attention with a sense of urgency. This book argues that classical pragmatism offers a compelling and useful account of our engagement with moral life. The key arguments are first, that a broader reading of the pragmatist tradition than is usually attempted within the context of ethical theory is necessary; and second, that this broad reading offers resources that enable us to move forward in contemporary debates about truth and principles in moral life. The first argument is made by demonstrating that there is an arc of theoretical unity that stretches from two key founders of pragmatism—Charles Sanders Peirce and William James—through the work of John Dewey and Clarence Irving Lewis. The second argument is made by engaging with contemporary debates concerning the truth-status of the judgments and assertions made in ordinary moral discourse, as well as the role and nature of moral principles. Toward a Pragmatist Metaethics will be of interest to scholars of American philosophy, American intellectual history, and moral and political theorists, as well as anyone interested in the contours and demands of shared moral discourse.
