Shocktube Studies of Gas-liquid Reactions and of Gas-phase Diffusion. Part Ii. Improved Analysis of Gas Phase Diffusion Coefficients
Author: John R. Ferron
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 30
Book Description
Continued development of a method for measurement of diffusion coefficients of gases for wide ranges of temperature and pressure is described. A shocktube provides experimental conditions, and diffusivity of the gas is inferred from the rate of absorption of carbon dioxide in triethanolamine behind a reflecting shock wave. Revised analysis of data previously reported (see AD-641 435) demonstrates that the experimental results are of good precision. A new apparatus, capable of use at stronger shock conditions, is described briefly. Additional study of liquid-phase and gas-phase chemical and physical phenomena is necessary before reliable diffusion coefficients can be reported. (Author).

Moden Shock Tube Methods for Chemical Studies in High Temperature Gases
Author: Ronald K. Hanson

ISBN:

Pages : 6
Book Description
Shock tube measurements are the primary source of chemical kinetic data for gases at high temperature, particularly above the temperature limit of heated steady-flow reactors (about 1500 K). During the past few years significant advances have been made in shock tube methods which enable more direct and quantitative measurements of elementary reactions than previously reported. Such refinements will lead to an improved kinetic data base useful, for example, in modeling nonequilibrium flows of air and combustion gases associated with advanced high-speed aircraft and transatmospheric vehicles. Here we discuss two areas of continuing activity in our laboratory, namely the development of improved diagnostic methods based on cw dye laser absorption spectroscopy and the development of a new laser-photolysis shock tube for direct studies of reactions involving reactive radical species. Reprints.(aw).
