Reducing fire fighter injuries and deaths requires the dedicated efforts of every fire fighter, of every fire department, and of the entire fire community working together. It is with this goal in mind that we have integrated the 16 Fire Fighter Life Safety Initiatives developed by the National Fallen Fire Fighter Foundation into Chapter 2, Fire Fighter Safety. In most of the chapters, actual National Fire Fighter Near-Miss Reporting System cases are discussed to drive home important points about safety and the lessons learned from those real-life incidents. It is our profound hope that this textbook will contribute to the goal of reducing line-of-duty deaths by 25 percent in the next 5 years.Fundamentals of Fire Fighter Skills, Second Edition thoroughly supports instructors and prepares students for the job. This one-volume text meets and exceeds the Fire Fighter I and II professional qualifications levels as outlined in the 2008 edition of NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications. Book Description
A beautiful collector’s hardcover of never-before-translated poems by the widely beloved medieval Persian poet Rumi. AN EVERYMAN'S LIBRARY POCKET POET Rumi (1207-1273) was trained in Sufism—a mystic tradition within Islam—and founded the Sufi order known to us as the Whirling Dervishes, who use dance and music as part of their spiritual devotion. Rumi's poetry has long been popular with contemporary Western audiences because of the way it combines the sacred and the sensual, describing divine love in rapturously human terms. However, a number of Rumi's English translators over the past century were not speakers of Persian and they based their sometimes very free interpretations on earlier translations. With Western audiences in mind, translators also tended to tone down or leave out elements of Persian culture and of Islam in Rumi's work, and hundreds of the prolific poet's works were never made available to English speakers at all. In this new translation—composed almost entirely of untranslated gems from Rumi's vast ouevre—Brad Gooch and Maryam Mortaz aim to achieve greater fidelity to the originals while still allowing Rumi's lyric exuberance to shine." Everyman's Library pursues the highest production standards, printing on acid-free cream-colored paper, with full-cloth cases with two-color foil stamping, decorative endpapers, silk ribbon markers, European-style half-round spines, and a full-color illustrated jacket.

Book Description
Hermetic Behmenists reproduces the writings of Dionysius Andreas Freher and Francis Lee, two exceptional commentators on Jacob Boehme’s philosophy. The texts contained in this book were originally published in 1854, in an edition of 500, given away to friends, and sent to university libraries by their editor, Christopher Walton. They were never sold in stores. Walton was an English Behmenist and devotee of William Law, and the texts were assembled as part of a research project that was never completed, “Notes and Materials Towards an Adequate Biography of William Law”. Unfortunately, Walton presented the texts haphazardly, without table of contents, in microscopic type, with footnotes going up to one hundred pages in length, that in turn contained other texts. This edition of the writings aims to put the writings of Freher and Lee in a more accessible, and readable format. Besides Walton’s book, only fragments of Freher’s writings have been published. A great quantity of writings have been preserved in manuscript form. Freher was referred to as “Second to Boehme” in his capacity as a commentator on Boehme’s philosophy, making the inaccessibility of his works an unfortunate loss.
