Excerpt from Denton Public Schools: Course of Study, Rules and Regulations; Also the Summary of Superintendent's Report, 1903 1904 Denton, Texas, August 31, 1903. To the City School Board of Denton, Texas: Gentle1nen - I have the honor of submitting to you a detailed statistical report of the Benton public schools for the school year ending on this date. An examina tion of this will show that our total enrollment for the year was 95 more than that of last year. I can also say that the character of work done by both teachers and pupils has kept pace with the increase in num bers. The addition to the Central Building has been of inestim'able value to our school, giving us plenty of. Room for our library and laboratory. Our school library will be of material aid to us during next year. It now contains about one thousand numbered vol umes, besides dictionaries encyclopaedias and other books of reference. I desire to express my deep sense of obligation to the Ariel Club and Ladies' Shakespeare Club of our city for the interest they have manifested in the beautifying of our school rooms, two large beauti ful pictures having been donated besides other expres sions of great merit. It is very gratifying to me to be able to state that the work done by the teachers dur ing last year was more successful than ever before and the relation existing between Superintendent and teach ers was absolutelv harm onions. On behalf of the teach ers. I desire to thank the Board for the hearty support and encouragement you have given us. In our efforts to advance the educational interests of our city.
