James Mooney (1722-1804) married Sarah Carroll in Maryland and settled in Virginia. Their son, Nicholas Carroll Mooney (1754-1831), served with the eight Virginia Regiment for three years during the Revolutionary War. He married Jemima Rives, daughter of George Rives. They had eight children, 1777-1801. He died in Fauquier County, Virginia. Descendants listed lived in Virginia, Tennessee, and elsewhere.
