Book Description
As part of ongoing investigations to determine the status of Arctic grayling in the Williston watershed in northern British Columbia, two large tributary streams of the Williston Reservoir were examined to determine Arctic grayling distribution, relative abundance, and habitat use. This report presents findings of electrofishing surveys that looked for the presence of Arctic grayling in the Omineca and Osilinka rivers. Observations of grayling fry habitat use are compared to studies conducted on the Table & Anzac rivers in the Parsnip River drainage of the Williston watershed. Results are also presented from angling surveys that collected information on adult grayling distribution.

Book Description
This report describes a 1998 study of Arctic grayling life history & habitat utilization on three rivers in the Williston Reservoir watershed of British Columbia. Introductory sections describe the study area (the Table River, Anzac River, and the 25-kilometre section of the Parsnip River between the Table & Anzac rivers) and methodology. The research included collection of water temperature data, an egg deposition survey, fry distribution surveys, sampling of young of the year, sampling of suitable habitats, mark recapture studies, and collection of biological information from sampled grayling. Results are presented & discussed with regard to water temperature trends, abundance & distribution of grayling fry, fish density, habitat utilization, characteristics of suitable habitats, abundance of adult grayling & other sport fish (trout, whitefish), age class distribution of grayling, and juvenile growth rates. Based on the findings, management implications & research needs are discussed.
