Book Description
Authors Bill Stout and Jean Domico delve into the hidden history, growth and development of Millvale, laid out with historic images throughout the centuries. Located three miles up the Allegheny River from Pittsburgh, Millvale was built along the valley formed by the creek called Girty's Run. Named after the iron mill of Graff, Bennett & Co., the mill in the valley, Millvale attracted hardworking German, Irish, and Slavic immigrants. Many of Millvale's immigrants created their own small businesses and social organizations, such as the Baeuerlein Brewing Company, as shown on the cover, and St. Anthony's Music and Benevolence Society. They built schools and churches, including St. Nicholas Croatian Catholic Church, internationally famous for its Maxo Vanka murals. Prussian brothers Anton and Andrew Kloman established a small forge making uniquely superior railroad axles. Needing capital to expand, the brothers turned to Miller, Phipps, and Carnegie as partners. Kloman and Company became the birthplace of Pittsburgh's steel industry. Never annexed by Pittsburgh, Millvale governs independently, even owning and operating its own water and electric plants.

Book Description
"With the ascension of a new emperor and the dawn of the Reiwa Era, Kenneth J. Ruoff has expanded upon and updated The People’s Emperor, his study of the monarchy’s role as a political, societal, and cultural institution in contemporary Japan. Many Japanese continue to define the nation’s identity through the imperial house, making it a window into Japan’s postwar history. Ruoff begins by examining the reform of the monarchy during the U.S. occupation and then turns to its evolution since the Japanese regained the power to shape it. To understand the monarchy’s function in contemporary Japan, the author analyzes issues such as the role of individual emperors in shaping the institution, the intersection of the monarchy with politics, the emperor’s and the nation’s responsibility for the war, nationalistic movements in support of the monarchy, and the remaking of the once-sacrosanct throne into a “people’s imperial house” embedded in the postwar culture of democracy. Finally, Ruoff examines recent developments, including the abdication of Emperor Akihito and the heir crisis, which have brought to the forefront the fragility of the imperial line under the current legal system, leading to calls for reform."

Book Description
Few institutions are as well suited as the monarchy to provide a window on postwar Japan. The monarchy, which is also a family, has been significant both as a political and as a cultural institution. This comprehensive study analyzes numerous issues, including the role of individual emperors in shaping the institution, the manner in which the emperor’s constitutional position as symbol has been interpreted, the emperor’s intersection with politics through ministerial briefings, memories of Hirohito’s wartime role, nationalistic movements in support of Foundation Day and the reign-name system, and the remaking of the once sacrosanct throne into a "monarchy of the masses" embedded in the postwar culture of democracy. The author stresses the monarchy’s "postwarness," rather than its traditionality.

Book Description
This book is unique. There is no other tribute like it. The church is the people. The people who are true Christians are listed in Gods Book in heaven. This church has survived for 100 years because of small groups of people. There is no church history book that lists over 100 pages of testimonies from people about how their church has blessed them. Their testimonials are a book in itself. One cannot read the testimonial section and not be blessed. True Christians, for the first time, have been given the opportunity to speak for God as a testimony to the world about one of His universal churches. This book lists some of the great sermons of the ministry leaders of the church. The many problems that Gods people and the church must face the next hundred years are listed. The churches in America are in a spiritual declined in influence and numbers. The people must act! Probably the only known course for this to happen is in the summary of this book. There is only One Church that will be exalted and glorified during the End Times. Gods church, founded by Jesus Apostles 2000 years ago, is based on the teachings of Christ Jesus. The First Baptist Church of Brandon was brought into existence by men of God based on New Testament teachings. 700 years before Jesus was born there were fifty prophecies about Jesus in Isaiah alone. Some scholars call Isaiah The Fifth Gospel after Matthew Mark, Luke, and John. (46, p. 187) Love your neighbor as yourself. (Lev. 19:18) was written 1400 years before Christ. John describes Jesus at the Creation. In the beginning was the Word ,and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1) This tribute is a model for any church.
