A Toast to Literacy is another Success!
Cleveland Reads would like to extend a heartfelt
THANK YOU to all of our supporters and donors for making the 8th
Reds, Whites, & Brews: A Toast
to Literacy a HUGE success again this year. The fabulous
event was held at the Shoreby Club on June 19th,
2009, and lent itself to a night of wine tasting, easy
conversation, and relaxation by the lake.
Cleveland Reads Receives Grants to Create Early
Reading Room at Arbor Park Village
Cleveland Reads is pleased to announce it was the recipient
of several grants that will be used to establish a Children's
Library and Family Literacy Program at Arbor Park Village in
Cleveland. Funding for the project was been received from
Fidelity Investments, Ronald McDonald House Charities of
Northeast Ohio, Inc., Target, and The Hershey Foundation.
The money will be used by Cleveland Reads to purchase books and
furnishings to create a space dedicated to childhood literacy.
A Celebration of Volunteers
April marks National Volunteer Week, a time when Cleveland Reads
acknowledges the many literacy tutors in Greater Cleveland.
For over a decade, Cleveland Reads has celebrated volunteers at its Annual Volunteer Reception.
Home & Garden Show to
benefit Cleveland Reads
From February 2-10, 2008, the 65th Annual Home & Garden Show
took place at the I-X Center. Each patron that
brought a new book, received $1 off admission and the
book was donated to Cleveland Reads.
Waverly Elementary
Students are "Spooktacular"
On Halloween, the second grade students at Waverly
Elementary School were treated to a “Spooktacular” reading event
sponsored by Cleveland Reads and Star Readers. The
classroom filled with 65 students, was full of energy and
excitement.
